I used a Wacom Tablet with Pen for 10 years doing Computer Aided Drafting work in a MAC Office. We didn't use a mouse for anything. The pen can be, and was, used just like a mouse. That was in the late 90's up until 2006.
That is actually a very long bench. So that in proportion it looks low. The apron is made from two end to end boards so I would estimate at least 10 feet long. Abo is right. That bench hasn't actually been worked on in a long time. Just used as a catchall shelf. A Work Bench was meant to hold an item to be worked on. Like a Carpenter or cabinetmaker planing or otherwise shaping a piece of wood. Or a mechanic/metalworker holding something in the vise while filing etc.
The photo was not mine. I climbed the East Face of Mt. Whitney in the mid 70's by a 5th Class technical rock climbing route though and descended by the Mountaineer's Route down a snow chute off the north side. I also used to stop in Lone Pine for breakfast at a little cafe that had an excellent view of Mt. Whitney and Keeler Needle . Keeler Needle is that dramatic looking Column just to the South (left in the photo) of Whitney itself. I can't remember what the column to the left of Keeler Needle is called.
Larry S ps; Somewhere I still have a Hopalong Cassidy plate that was part of a set with a cereal bowl and a cup I think. From when I was about 5 years old. The plate is all that is left and it has been broken and glued back together.
During my motorcycle riding time (1964 Velocette was my best) I always heard that the Vincent was way over powered with a crappy frame, lousy suspension and almost non-existent brakes.
