This my first time using LR and I find it to be amazing and easy. I can do most things from my mobile device cast to my large TV for more accurate colors.

This is one of the Oklahoma City Memorial structures I took a while back... just to experiment.

Thoughts??

Ahh, clarity ensues...

The method I mentioned earlier applies. Photoshop's Canvas Size tool is made for this. See Screenshot. (Windows keyboard shortcuts are different.)

I hope this helps.

Thank you Burkphoto. This is most helpful. I know I can always find the right answer when asking the Pros.

Stan,

I would like to add a personal touch to the finished product.

Why would you want your print size to be 3 inches longer/wider than what you are going to use? If you are framing, then there is no need to print on canvas larger than the displayed size. And if you are wrapping without framing, the print need only be longer/wider by the depth of your backing material.

Not getting where you are seeing 3 inches. I stated 1.5 inches on all four sides meaning EACH side.
I am not framing the image. I am putting it on a canvas ONLY.

Thanks. I should have been more clear. I want to get prints and put them on a canvas myself. I have a process I do, but I have never wrapped the canvas front AND sides. I have been just doing the front face.

I need to know the best way to size my photos about 1.5" larger (on all four sides) than the canvas dimensions so I can wrap the sides and some of the back of the canvas.

Hello,

I am wanting to find out how to get the correct size for an image that I want t put on
a canvas. And wrap around like the studios do.
For instance. If I have an 8 by 10 canvas what size should I get the print for?
Also, Is it best to go with prints from an online store or easier and better to go somewhere locally and talk to someone face-to-face?

What I take issue with, is your statement that this is "the" picture of some tomatoes. I maintain that there exists more than one picture of tomatoes.

No!! THESE are the only tomatoes known to man. Check your local grocer.

I am only in my 50's so I cannot say or even imagine what that generation went through. I always knew my parents must have seen and experienced some hard times in their youth.

It has been a long-time thought of mine that my generation and younger generations have not really been through anything- Slavery, Civil Wars, World Wars, Hitler's plans, nationwide diseases, stock market collapses, just to name a few, are the things people had to deal with before our time. What is happening now is really the first thing to affect the world as it has. I agree with the shame others feel about the way we are acting in the stores and lashing out at our President. I could care less who the President is, but I always show respect for the office and the burden it must carry.

We are spoiled SISSIES!! And I am afraid this will not change us.

I am taking this as a sign that I need to slow down and do the things I never have time for and to remember after this is over to continue that thought.

I believe you should sell the Nikon 18-200 lens and buy lenses made for your camera. Second hand or refurb is a cheaper option.

Agreed.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I have heard of all of these with accolades. I am sure I can find a good balance of price, effectiveness and non-complexity.

I use Photoshop CC, Lr Classic CC, DXO Photolab, On1 Raw and Capture One. They each handle raw files slightly differently. For instance, Capture One does great stuff with Sony .arw files. DXO has Nik suite integrated into it, so it is fairly seamless to move from the raw editor to the Nik library.

Like yourself, I don't like to sit in front of a computer. I rarely spend more than a couple of minutes on an image, unless I am doing a fashion-industry style headshot retouch, in which case I might spend 90 mins or more on each image. But I charge for that and I do deliver the results the clients are looking for.

This image was a 15 shot pano - 3 rows of 5 images, merged in Lightroom, edited slightly in Lightroom, then exported to Photoshop for masking, color and contrast adjustments etc. The whole thing took me about 5 minutes.

The first image was just the results of the pano stitch, the second was the final result.

It would be hard to do this with Nikon software.
I use Photoshop CC, Lr Classic CC, DXO Photolab, O... (show quote)

If this took you 5 minutes, you must have been working with these tools for quite some time.
