What about Gasworks Park? I haven't been there for a number of years, but I found it photographically when I was there.

A CD consists of a polycarbonate disk coated with the recording layer on one side which is covered by a protective layer and then possibly a label. It is recorded through the clear polycarbonate disk so if the other side is damaged or scratched it will cause problems with the recording layer. Scratching the recording side may cause problems because the laser has to read the data through that side. A normal DVD consists of two polycarbonate disks with the recording layer between them. The data as recorded/read through one side. The other side can be messed up a bit and it will not cause a problem.

Catalina is a major change since it supports only 64bit software while versions of the operating system supported 64 and 32 bit software. That is a biggie if you use any older software which is not being actively supported.

Doesn't the lock tab just keep you from writing to or erasing the contents of the card? It does not keep you from transferring the contents to a computer. By the way, you can search the web and find ways to actually unlock the card mechanically after the tab has broken off.

I assume it's still true that Sigma does not pay a licensing fee to get Nikon camera lens interface information and just reverse engineers the interface. The problem can be that Nikon plans on using other features in the future, and when they do, it can cause problems with reverse engineered software. You used to have to send Sigma lenses back to get the firmware updated. These days if your lens is lens is USB dock compatible, you can update it yourself.

Mine was Burger King a few years ago. I used to stop in there to eat or just have a Coke, especially when I had a new lens to test. The tests were of my wife sitting across the booth from me and the lighting was good. I was told that no pictures could be taken in any Burger Kings so I walked out. I checked on the web and discovered that some research had recently been on what fast-food restaurants to find which had the most serious healthcode violations. Burger King came out on top and decided the way to handle the problem was to outlaw photography, and that even included a mother photographing her own child's birthday party. However they did have a list of approved photographers you could hire to photograph the party. Needless to say, I stop at Burger King only if there is no other place to eat.

When I had a local camera store, I shopped there because I appreciated them showing me equipment and I wanted them to succeed. Unfortunately I do not have a local camera store, so I go with places like B&H and Adorama. I live in Maryland and those mail-order stores are now charging sales tax on orders. It doesn't bother me because our state needs the taxes.

When you are doing macro photography, even f/32 may not give you the DOF you desire. In a situation like that, multiple exposures with the focus set at multiple distances from the front of the object to the back of the object can give you what you want. You stack the images and the software will use the in-focus areas of each image to build a sharp image. That also allows you to use a wider f-stop which will not be degraded by diffraction problems. Saying that, I have not done it myself but I would like to experiment with it. You can find many examples of the process and resulting images on the web.

Thanks. Fixed the problem. Not sure about other D750 users, but mine is a bit finicky. I can be shooting indoors under constant ambient light and with speedlight, but without changing exposure settings have one image bright and the next dark without moving subject or camera. Do you think it's time to replace my speedlight or is this more common than I think?

Check the ready light on your flash to make sure it is fully charged before each shot. If you don't let it charge up long enough between shots, you will get those results. One solution is to increase the ISO on the camera. That will decrease the flash power needed. I have a D750 and know how good it works at much higher ISOs.

I have a Nikon SB-900, and when the AA alkaline batteries start wearing out, the recycle time greatly increases.

If your computer still boots up but has problems running certain software it may be just a screwed up operating system. If you have a "Time Machine" backup, you can easily reformat the drive and reinstall the operating system. At the same time it will mark any problem sectors bad. When you use a Time Machine backup, all software and data that were present when it was backed up are automatically restored to the drive.

My 40 year old father died of lung cancer in Feb 1960. It was right after I turned 17 and I took a couple of pictures of him in his casket to show to his mother who was in a nursing home several hundred miles away. She was paralyzed on one side of her body after a stroke in the mid 1950s.

In the late 1990s one of our neighbors had a teen daughter who had had a full-term stillborn baby. The neighbor had photographed her daughter holding the baby's body and asked if I would do some work on the picture to make the baby look more lifelike. I agreed to try, but was rather relieved when she never brought over the picture for me to work on it.

To put it simply, a frame of film or a digital sensor responds to the amount of light per unit area. An f/4 lens of any focal length delivers the same amount of light per unit area. A 400 mm f/4 lens projects the same amount of light per unit are as a 100 mm f/4 lens. It's just that the 400 mm lens produces a larger image with the same light per unit area, and that is all that matters.

For something a little out of the ordinary visit Hollywood Cemetery. Belle Isle in Richmond is also nice. It is accessible to pedestrian and bicycle traffic via a suspension footbridge that runs under the Robert E. Lee Bridge. I haven't been there in years, but when I was there there was an abandoned power plant and other abandoned buildings all accessible and not fenced off.

One reason some shot 4K video is that it allows you to crop in video processing and still produce 1080 or 720 output video. You can even fake a 2 camera shot this way. If you have a shot with two people talking to each other, you can use one 4K video camera and have them face each other. You can frame the shot with them on opposite sides of the frame. You can then cut from one to the other simply by cropping and have no audio sync problems.

For my B&W photos I have always preferred black pebble mats with white cores. I started this after I saw one of W. Eugene Smith's original prints matted that way in a traveling exhibit of photographs in the 1960s. He always printed dark images and the black mat allowed you to see detail in the shadows of the images. My experience is that an image matted in a darker color mat looks brighter than one matted in white mat. I have always done my own dry-mounting, mat cutting, and framing. I mainly use the black aluminum sectional frames that you put together yourself. They are very economical if you buy them in bulk from 'chop shops' on the internet.
