Usually, my wife and I each have a backpack for our gear, but we are planning a trip to Scotland, and I want to condense everything into one bag. Below is a list of what we will be taking. Of course, it still needs to fit under the seat, if possible. I would like to stay under $250, but would go higher for the perfect bag.

R7
6D mkII
100-400
RF100-500
16-35

Maybe a second R7 if there is room.

Thanks, Mike

Here’s another vote for Shimoda. Lots of sizes, most comfortable because it’s adjustable, at least my 50L is. Excellent construction.

Some test reviews:
https://www.dpreview.com/articles/7004460162/choose-your-own-adventure-with-techart-s-e-mount-to-z-mount-adapter

Due to the thin size of the adaptor there are some lens weight limit guidelines, and it has NO weather sealing. Handling was somewhat difficult and although it generally worked, performance was uneven, according to this test review.

Another E-mount to Z-mount adaptor: Megadap ETZ-21
Mark Smith: It also generally worked, but also had erratic, unpredictable AF performance, according to Mark Smith ,a top wildlife pro.

Any experience using the Techart lens adapter to use a Sony E mount lens on a Nikon Z6 or Z7 camera. I’m looking at using a Sigma Art with a Sony E mount on a Nikon Z6 or Z7. I’m not too interested in auto focus speed, just compatibility and longevity. Thanks for any experience.

Second definitely, maybe the third. Just my opinion.

Going on a trip and we want to take 2 850s and 2 telephotos plus a few smaller lenses. Really want to carry the gear on.

Suggestions from those who travel a lot? Looked at Pelican. Any other thoughts?

I have 3 pelican cases and highly recommend them. Especially if there is any chance you may have to check one as I had to very reluctantly on a recent flight. Also make sure you have locks for any hard case. Safe travels.

Sigma Art 14-24 f2.8 for Nikon. I have switched over to mirror less and have bought the Nikon Z version of this lens. The Sigma is reluctantly now for sale. Read all of the reviews, the Sigma is better across the board than the Nikon F mount and roughly equal to the Nikon Z version. This lens is sharp, period. Excellent for astro/Milky Way photography and also excels in landscape work. I wanted a lighter kit and that is why I sold my Nikon D 850’s and am going with new Nikon glass as well. I really hated to make this decision but as we age, you need to make things lighter and that is the only reason for my change. The lens is in pristine, absolutely like new condition. Comes with Sigma front and rear caps, Sigma soft case and original box and manual. Please see my other ads here for a complete 150mm NiSi filter system for this particular lens. Please no low ball offers, price is market researched and very fair for this lens in this condition, plus no tax. Please see my reviews on this site. Prefer Zelle, no paypal, cashiers or personal check acceptable if drawn on national bank with time to clear. Shipping is negotiable.

Absolutely like new, purchased from B & H, converting to Nikon Z mirrorless and Nikon Z glass. Comes with correct Nikon HB 40 lens hood, front and rear caps (not Nikon) . Has had a B+W XS Pro MRC Nano UV haze filter on since it was taken out of the box (which I cannot locate, sorry) and I will include this $80 filter for an additional $40. Prefer Zelle, cashier’s check ok if drawn on national bank with time to clear. Shipping is negotiable. Please see my reviews on this site.

The hummer season is coming to an end soon and I am still trying to get good inages of the ones that frequent my feeder. The birds in the images are usually entirely blurred, not just the wings. Would appreciate advice on shutter settings, and other possible causes of the bluriness. I am using a Nikon D5600 on a tripod and a Vello Freewave Plus electronic release, and have several Nikon lens to choose from, 18-200, 35mm, 18-55, 12-24, etc. I can set the tripod up from about any distance but have been setting it up about 10' in the open to about 20' from inside my house with the windows open to prevent any reflections from the glass. I would appreciate suggestions from anyone experienced in taking hummingbird pictures but none that call for buying any more equipment. On-line discussions have not seemed to addres my questions but I probably have not stumbled on to the right one yet. You Tube suggestions would be helpful but only if they have CC as I have severe hearing loss.

All of the previous comments are very good advice. One other thought, instead of trying to focus on these fast fliers, since you know, from observation which is critical, where they are going, pick their most used trajectory and focus there, use your tripod and when they fly into your focus area shoot at your highest frame rate. Be prepared to delete a lot of shots but you should get some very good ones as well. Best of luck.

I have a good polarizer (B&W) that I would like to continue using, but always hated the effort and time needed to screw and unscrew the tiny threads. They also like to cross thread or get very tight to the point that you have to spend extra time just to put it away. I would also like to add a variable ND filter to the mix if I can find a good one and would like to use a system that is easy to assemble like for the polarizer.

Now there are several companies that sell a system using magnetic rings which make assembly/disassembly instantaneous, but most of them require you to use their filters and won't work with the ones you already have.

What are your thoughts? Have you found a solution to this problem? Do you use the filters of your choice or use only ones that come in a system described above?

About a year ago I switched to The kase system. Love it. They even had a system for my Nikon z 14-24. I also have them for my 77mm filter lenses. At times, I used to hesitate using filters as the screw in can be a pain but really like the kase system. Pricey to change over but I think it was worth it.
