Thanks, Fireman. I have so much fun when I'm there just walking and looking for opportunities/images to capture with my camera. I'm spending a couple days this weekend in Philadelphia with the same goal in mind!
Cheers!

Miles from anywhere is some gorgeous beach scenery called Clinton Rocks. We stayed in a remote town called Cann River. Only place to eat was the hotel, apparently a big gathering place on a Friday evening. All the locals were gathered there for the Friday Night raffle. I don't remember all the prizes, but one was a package of pork chops.

As Sherry and I were eating dinner, we took turns trying to guess why each person's ancestors had been sent to the Australian Penal Colony centuries before. The pickpockets, prostitutes and flim flam artists were the easiest to pick out. ;)

greymule. Great pics. You are very fortunate to get to travel like you do. Had a chance 20 years ago to go to Austarlia when my dad was stationed there, but cost was a factor. My sister stayed and lives in Alice Springs

As a fire dept. Safety Officer I would be very upset with the fact the fireman does not have his face shield DOWN!

From what I have seen in my 30+ years in the fire service are, that these types of face shields tend to melt, and therefore are useless after a fire anyway, especially being as close as that fireman. It is one reason the department I work for does not purchase shields for our helmets. JMO

Like all 3 but #1 I like the best, it almost appears that the trees in the background have an HDR effect to them.

Not to step on any toes, but I was told Never to lead the eye out of the Photo. The object has always been to lead the eye in and hold for a moment. That being said, the last few lead the eye out of the photo.

Your pics are some of the best. Like #7 the best in this post

Below is a photo taken of Lapland Lake which is in the southern part of the Adirondack Mountains in NY. Photograph one is the photo posted on the thread "Lapland Lake." The next two are renditions of the image in two different HDR versions. It was suggested I try an HDR version by a member of the forum, so my question is, does HDR work for the image or not? C&C welcomed.

Stats are: Nikon D80 with 18-135mm lens shot at ISO 400, 22mm F/16 at 1/100 sec.

Bmac, I like the 1st pic, everything appears sharp, but if I had to pick an HDR edit #2 wins.

I have a theory that most people actually like paying higher and higher taxes simply so they can complain about it. Otherwise, why would these boobs keep getting elected? My property taxes would make your toes curl. 8-)

Bmac, My wife is from the island, where her cousins still live, and I was astounded at what there property taxes were. Double what I pay and I have 3 times the house size and 20 acres to go with it.

I don't think I've ever gotten a "tack sharp" image from my 18-55. Nor from my 55-250 and 50mm 1.8. None of these lenses cost mre than $300 and I don't think they produce very good images.

Your eyes really are bad. The images appear crystal clear on my monitor. Very nice images. I have an 18-55 that came with my T1i that I do not use much, but when I do I am pleased with the results. My son picked up a fly tyers kit from an abandon house he was helping to tear down. I'll have to see if he has done anything with the kit.

I like #1. The colors stand out more, but I would crop the bottom just a bit.

Great shot, especially hand held at night, been by there a few times. The harbor is a beautiful place to visit.
