Where and how to register a copyright
Since your pictures are already in digital form, it’s a pretty straightforward process to submit an application to register an image at Copyright.gov.
Unless you’ve done it before, you’ll have to start by setting up a user account. Once you’re a registered user, you’ll need to log into the system to get started and follow the on-screen prompts.
The only thing that may throw you is that it requires you to pay the registration fee before you actually upload your images. The application fee for photos is $65, but you can register up to 750 images on the same application.
Keep in mind, the information you provide to register the image — such as your address — will become public record.
Violating copyrights is easy
A common misconception when it comes to images is that if they can be found with a Google search, they must be in the public domain.
Using any image without permission from the copyright holder can get you into legal trouble, especially if you’re using it for a business.
The good news is that there are lots of images that make themselves available for reuse through websites such as ccsearch.creativecommons.org.
There’s also an option to only show images that are labeled for reuse in a Google image search by clicking on the Tools menu, then on Usage Rights. Even then, you should visit the website that is offering the image to see if they have specific credit requirements in order for you to use it.
Violating an image copyright can result in financial penalties that can be in the hundreds or thousands of dollars per image, per use, so don’t do it!

You can effectively use a bird as a focal point in a landscape. It just requires planning your layout, and asking the bird to stand in the right spot, facing the way you want.
How fortunate your family is to have such a caring person to look after them. You have given them a lot of love. I’m glad you have some time now to enjoy doing an activity that allows you to express your creativity.
For people who want traditional group photos (weddings, class picture, etc) this is an opportunity for post processing experts. Take individual photos, or loose groups like the farm wedding, and assemble the people closer together In a composite with your computer skills.
Ask local reindeer owners. They may know who owned reindeer and took them places on a leash back then

I suggest you also give them an electronic copy. The younger generations like to look at screens. Also books can get lost or damaged. And they or their children might like having the ability to give copies to multiple children or grandchildren down through the generations

I use a stand alone computer which sits on the sideboard in the dining room. The screen saver runs a few hundred or thousand of my favorite photos. Not only do I enjoy it while I eat, I notice other visitors stop and watch when they walk by. For special events, such as birthdays, I set the screen saver to show photos of the guest of honor. That is a big hit.
I buy frames at thrift stores. I pick the ones that just need to be cleaned, and maybe a little old english polish, unless I want to paint them. They often come with mats that can be reused. For $5 or so and a few minutes of my time I get a frame that would cost $100.

I remember seeing them at Ano Nuevo back in the 1980’s. Prior to that all the rookeries were on islands. It was very exciting, especially when the bulls start fighting. And the babies are cute, but not small.
I like them very much. I’ve never understood why people think “models” need to be young and undifferentiated, and prefer “movie star” looks and think they have to edit out every wrinkle or freckle. I think photos like these that show some life experience and personality are much more interesting. They look like really nice, authentic people.
Good job!
