I lucked out and was able to trade and get a nice lens. canon 70-200 2.4
Here is a picture of my grandson that I thought turned out really good and wanted to save as color and monochrome and to me they both look great but the more I look at them over time I still think something is missing and I cannot put my finger to what it could be this time.

This was taken with canon 70D f/4 ISO 100 1/200sec at 70mm with this being SOOC. Hand held and with no modifiers. This was taken earlier this year and I have now been able to work with it some more.

My thoughts are that I could crop down just enough to remove the distraction at the top left of the photo and it would move him just a little keeping him from being so centered. That is actually a slide at a park and the angle and lines enhanced the photo more and the background seemed to enhanced the photo even more. There was also a lot of luck as he was really having so much fun being chased around having his picture taken.

Again if you notice something else it can only help me be more aware with trying to improve my skill.

thank you

Ha be careful with those wild animals you don’t want to lose a finger. LOL.

That is a cute shot but it has a very blue cast as viewed on my iPad.

I may of not saved the file in sRGB. I went back and re saved the file again compared them on my computer and they both look the same, when i looked at the properties there where small differences so I can only think it could of been it was not saved as sRGB correctly.
I will try to be more aware the next time.

While taking my walk I try to carry my camera and after some time I was finally able to get this picture. After looking at the results on my computer I added some text and thought to myself "This would be something I would see on facebook" and I just wanted to share... I am getting better :)

I have studied more on light photography, there are some really good youtube videos that help start including some diy stuff for lighting.
for me I am using Manual mode with a 10s delay and the 2s delay on the camera around 200iso and after getting my focus point setting the lens to manual focus. I have also been playing with the white balance in Kelvin, between 4800-5500 as for lighting it helps for me so far.
The bad thing about manual is that your limited to working with a timer, one for the camera delay and the other for how long to keep the shutter open. Also manual will max out at 30 secs I believe.
I want to test bulb as it will hold open as long as you have the shutter pushed, or if wireless as long as you have your shutter trigger button pushed. I have read where some people have had shutter open up to 5 mins. For light painting that can be alot hehe.
With light painting and a person I have noticed that with long exposure in a dark room, I could use a speed flash and get some nice multi exposure shots. I used a speedflash that I triggered with my hand, when the timer opened the shutter, I would press the speedflash trigger I had in my hand, and then quickly move to the left and look up and trigger the flash again. when looking at the results it almost looked like I had done a multi exposure shot. It was another method as most dslr cameras and up have a multi exposure shooting setting where you can do it that way too.
Last I can only say is to practice, practice, practice... Just like learning to drive a car, the more you drove and practiced the better you could get.
have fun.

Yes I have a new phone, the note 10+, and yes I agree with you. I did remove all the wifi on my phone, and set to only use the camera. It would work sometimes for awhile and then it would quit. When it did work it worked well but it become more and more of a problem :/

the only wireless one they show I have done a lot of research on and most of the canon owners that have used that one have had nothing but problems. There was 2 people that had no real issues with that wireless one for my camera on the canon site.
I even talked to a few people that are selling theirs and asked them why and they said they just had to many issues.
I am not trying to bash everyones suggestions, I wanted to explain that I have followed up on them and wanted to pass on what I found. I know that this is not the same for everyone, as for me I really want one that will not cause me a headache hehe

I have the phone app also, and it seems to do ok as long as I am not near any other wifi systems. I keep getting my homes wifi causing my phone to always switch. I have even tried to set it up for just the camera and it did good for awhile and then kept loosing connection.
My experience has been disappointing with the app. That is the only reason I have been looking for recommendations on a wireless trigger that can also be used for bulb mode. I can also add that one that is not IR as it has to be a line of site and can cause issues too :/ I will keep looking and researching :) thanks

the problem with a wired one is that I need to be to far away from the camera for it to be very useful for light painting. when I am the one doing the light movements. If i had a 3rd person that could be an option but sometimes I am doing some of the testing by myself.

Hello, its been awhile, seen some hard days for awhile. As of now I have had a chance to work with my camera some more and I have a growing desire to learn light painting. I am having some promising results working with manual mode but to work with bulb I need a remote trigger and the more I look the more doubt I have. There was someone some time ago posted a suggestion but so many new ones have popped up I want to ask again.

Thoughts on a wifi remote trigger that will work well doing bulb mode so I can hold the shutter open remotely. It needs to work with the canon 70d as I have found that not all triggers will work with this camera.

thank you for any thought and ideas. I will add one of the pics I have been working on and realize that I still have a long way to go :/
