Just curious - are there 2nds in the photographic world? Maybe not grey market but cameras/lenses which do not meet the manufacturers stringent quality standards and are sold off cheaply.
I ask as I'm looking to buy a Tamron lens here in Australia and find 5 out of 6 retailers price is A$1200+ with the 6th selling supposedly the same lens at more than 20% discount - A$850. The retailer insists its genuine Australian stock with full warranty and offers 14 day return if not satisfied. As a retiree that saving is very attractive but I'm concerned I may be buying a substandard product. I don't want to have to try out their 14 day return policy if I do get a poorer quality lens.
Does anyone know if this is a possibility - substandard goods being sold off cheaply?

Ask the seller for a Photograph of the lenses serial no. and than check with Tamron US if it’s genuine.

The all-in price delivered in US is $4,000, no tax. Does this price include all lenses and the Teleconverter?

Help! The Sony A1 intimidates the devil out of me. I am reluctant to just dive in with this camera and I have used Canon, Nikon, and Leica in the past. What blocks me in this moment is a mystery. Do others feel the same and how did you push through this resistance? I think some hand holding by Sony would be helpful, but they indicate no interest in providing specific instruction for the A1. All suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your guidance and push.

I watched Sony sponsored Webinars! and use the Fn (Fun Key).

I bought this camera about 1.5 years ago at B&H, thinking that it would be a great camera.
I have only used it for events. I keep it very secure when not in use, and I take care of it like a baby, and this is applicable to all of my equipment.

About 30 days ago, I started hearing a click-click sound inside. I turned if off, then back on, removed the battery, then it would work for 20 minutes and the clicking sound started again. Then the screen would go black and would only focus on very bright lights. I would restart it, again to 20 minutes of work.
I called sony, they told me to reboot it for 30 seconds and update the software, I did.

The same thing happened again. I am so frustrated.
I called sony again, they will not honor the warranty because it's past the year (just a couple of months).

The first time I called they said they would do an exception and cover it, then when I called again the Filipino lady that answered said that they will not cover it.

She would not give me the number to public relations and she was closed-minded and did not really know anything other than saying no.

I am so frustrated, I paid about 2500.00 for this camera, and now it's a piece of junk.

Please help! Anybody with a similar experience?
I have NEVER had this experience with my CANON cameras!!

In the second week of February my Canon EOS 1DX, Mark II started doing strange things, deleting photos, writing to two different cards when only one was selected and not recording some of my shots. As I have been a gold member of Canon Professional Services for several years, I contacted their support staff to see if they had any ideas as to why this was happening. The tech was confused as I was as to why but thought it might be a problem with the card reader. He had me take a few shots and my camera seemed to be working okay. I went out to shoot some Tundra Swans a few days later and had the same problems. At that time, I contacted Canon for a repair order and shipped the camera to them on the 14th of February and they received the camera on the 16th. I received a text from them on the 16th saying that their technicians had evaluated my camera and determined that a fee was required to complete the repairs. At that time, I called Canon and was told that the repairs would cost $185.71, and I authorized payment and inquire as to what the problem was. I was told that it was damage to the pins of the CF card. On Feb.18th I received another text from Canon stating the same thing as the first text. I contacted them again and was shocked to hear that the repairs would now be $692.72. I asked the tech how this repair went from $185 to $692. He stated that the techs probably used my description of the problems and had not actually looked at the camera. He now stated that when they went into the camera, they discovered that the pcb assembly and main pcb needed repair. I told the tech that I was upset about how this was handled and that I was disappointed in the professional service I was receiving, but I needed my camera back and authorized
payment again. The tech told me that he would have someone in repairs contact me to explain how this happened. As this was over the President's Day weekend, I did not expect to hear from anyone until the following Tuesday. On Tuesday I received a email that they were beginning the repairs at no charge. I wasn't sure if this was because I had already paid for the repair or that they were fixing it at no cost to me. I then checked my Visa account, low and behold, a return of the $692.72. On the 24th I received a text that the repairs were
done and they were shipping the camera back to me. I received the camera on the 25th. Talk about stepping up to the plate.

I'm having trouble finding a Sony repair facility that'll repair or give me advice on fixing a Sony A1. The glass at the rear of the camera is broken . The screen and everything behind the glass still works. The local camera repair guy thinks that Sony doesn't sell parts. He thinks that maybe the whole unit will have to be replaced . Does anyone have any suggestions about this or know how to contact Sony repair.

Paid the loan of within two years. BTW, Lee was the first every to become a CEO without have a degree in Business. At the Lehigh University Graduation Ceremony Speech 👨‍🎓 I got the opportunity to meet him. I asked him on Question, Why didn’t you design a car for Chrysler? If he did design a Chrysler car he would of be able to say I started my career with Ford (Mustang) and left me career designing a Chrysler car. Some say that he had part in designing the Dodge Viper. He chuckled when I mentioned it.

It seems the A1 can take a beating :

Sony A1 camera that tumbled down Olympic Ski slope, survived, What do you think of this?

Only lens hood and rear lcd screen replaced, camera finished taking photos, and was back on the slopes after Sony Pro Services replaced the hood and rear LCD screen. I guess all those news services that switched to Sony knew how tough a camera they were handing over to their staff photographers, worldwide.

Mint (not a mark or a scratch) lens with caps, hood, case, box, and styrofoam. Bought it from B& H and barely used. Was going on a safari but was canceled by covid. I also have the 1.4 extender. the lens is $1500 and the extender $200. Will sell both for $1600. I am in the Tampa Bay area (Sarasota)so pick up preferred to avoid the expense of shipping. Thanks, David

Does the lens & extender come with a USA warranty registration card?
