I always forgot how drastic the weather differences between Cleveland and the Mentor area can be...just a snowy morning at the beach

Absolutely marvelous pictures. Is that really a hedghog in your lap? That is so mega-cute He should be our mascot!!

Would have loved to see them in full resolution. Nonetheless, wonderful pics.

Anybody care to post pix from their particular smartphone to demonstrate the quality of their pix?

These were both taking on my iPhone 8 and then edited in Snapseed...and a picture of my hedgehog taken in portrait mode...because this is the ugly hedgehog after all

I am largely responsible for handling photos submitted by members of a women’s organization. Photos are compiled to go into a scrapbook at year’s end. Selecting the good ones is easy. Most are blurry, out of focus, and poorly composed. They are 99% cell phone produced. There ain’t enough photoshop to save the majority.

A cell phone is a phone; a camera is a camera. And ne’er the Twain shall meet.

If I attend an event they are involved in, I bring a pocketable Canon S100. And I don’t have worry about it ringing during the event.

Poor composition really has nothing to do with the machine taking the image...

I prefer my iphone 8 to my husband's droid...plus lightroom mobile and snapseed make for quick edits without a steep learning curver

Since it was such a rainy October, I didn’t get many pictures on Halloween. Took advantage of Sunday’s sunshine to get a picture of my favorite superheroes!

I find it hard to believe you got that much DOF at 2.8. Not doubting your word, I've just never seen 2.8 give that DOF. Amazing.

I think editing went a long way towards helping DOF. Here is the dragon SOOC

WOW! These are great shots. The subjects are interesting, but I'm amazed at the DOF you were able to achieve. May I ask what your settings were?

All were shot on with 24mm 2.8 lens w/ my Canon Rebel Xs

Picture 1: 1/60 f/2.8 iso 800

Picture 2: 1/125 f/2.8 iso 800

Picture 3: 1/80 f/4.0 iso 400

Picture 4: 1/250 f/2.8 iso 400

and then some fine tuning with exposure, clarity, etc in lightroom

I saw similar at the Cleveland Zoo.

I was at the Cleveland Zoo! I was really impressed at the size of the display, I initially thought it was just going to be mostly the corridor leading up to the tigers, so I was pleasantly surprised that it wrapped all the way up and along the old ponds too. I was also happy that we opted to eat ahead of time when I saw some of the food lines!!

Have you thought about creating your own action? I think most of the ones your looking at probably just focus on adjusting saturation and contrast of certain colors...a little Lightroom experimentation and you could likely get the effect your looking for.

I have been researching bridge cameras on line for a while now and I am on information overload, so I need to go to a brick and mortar store to actually hold the cameras, I also want their input. the answer i am looking for now has anyone used the Dodd Camera store in Mentor Ohio, I did not see their name mentioned here. Their prices are in line with Amazon and a few others I checked, but I do not know what their reputation is.

I use the Dodd Camera on E 30th in Cleveland quite frequently for film developing. The staff are pretty knowledgeable and the company has been in business as a whole for over 100 years. I don't have personal experience with the Mentor location, but I would think they are worth a visit.
