Yes it would. Its very stiff like he described. I have one and did the same thing shortly after getting it. Scared the crap out of me. I actually posted a question on here before I found the lock ring.

Many thanks to all of you for your advice. I ended up going for Sky View. I really wanted to be able to point my phone and know what I was looking at. I may want something more later. I'm going to get used to this first.
As always UHH came through for me.

Again, thanks to all who responded.

Here's a Link.

I use it as my entire Planetarium Software.
And it controls my mount for me to slew around the night skies, taking me to objects.

Thanks Sonny.

One of the best apps to find your way across the night sky is a free program called Stellarium that's available for any operating system. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. I'll take a look at it.

Thanks. The goal here is to explore around the boundaries of what is ethical and what is not. Certainly safety is important and as an ex safety guy, I'd never ask anyone to sacrifice that. The question is really around intent...making the photograph look more dangerous to get than it really might have been.

I guess I'm confused as to why it matters how dangerous it to get a photo when reporting on a written story. The goal is to tell the story Right? Now live video might be a different ethics. For example., the fairly recent reporting on a hurricane where the reporter/meteorologist was struggling to stand while two people behind him were walking normally and carrying on a conversation. Not sure if this helps. I suppose what I'm saying is that it depends on what you are trying to portray.

These Brown Thrashers escorted this snake, which appears to be a juvenile Moccassin, out of my yard and into a side pasture. they refused to let it stay in the area in which they were feeding. I would have killed the snake but I was too busy taking photos.

I would say it's not a moccasin, it's a banded watersnake. Not poisonous good snake. In Missouri it's illegal to kill snakes, poisonous or not. Most all will do what they can to avoid trouble.

quote=TheShoe]In the 1990s, the "Conservationist" magazine from the Missouri Department of Conservation said that there were 4 herds. The locals disagreed, saying the the number was 7. There were apparently 4 herds that had white stallions. On one of my trips, we saw 3 of the white stallion herds at the same time, so it appears that the locals were correct.[/quote]

They (MDC and the federal rangers) have been forced to "manage" the herds. There was a small one with a white stallion an two white mares that hung out in Echo Buff State Park. People fed them, got too close to them and they lost all fear and respect for humans. I actually witnessed a woman trying to put her toddler on the back of one
can't fix stupid. The stallion was the first to go after he ate a convertible top. A couple of years ago they had a black Colt. Beautiful little boy. He and the mares started to get in trouble too so they've been "relocated" too.
There are still several herds around.

Just want to point out one more time( I know it is my soapbox) These are feral horses. Feral animals are those which have reverted to a wild life style. The last truly wild horse in the New World went extinct 10,000 to 8,000 years ago. (last I read)
There were no horses in the New World when the first Old World people arrived here with their domestic horses. This is the source of the 'wild' horse in the New World.

Kind of splitting hairs here but point taken. They're as close to wild as we've got and wild sounds much better than feral to me.

Wild horses? They look like well fed, well groomed horses. How wild are they? Nice photos too.

They are wild but they are used to people. As far as I know no one feeds or grooms them. In fact it is illegal to do so. They have had to relocate some of them because people have feed them and they've gotten destructive. They're are a couple of herds down here. Thanks for visiting.
