Really? Which controls that you can do with the dial on the Zfc and have to go into menu with the Z50?

I am going there in a couple of weeks with niece, nephew, and three teenagers. We have a horse drawn carriage ride one afternoon. Any suggestions besides that?

I'm planning on carrying a Zfc and one (maybe 2) lenses. This is more a get together than a photo-op, but I wouldn't want to miss anything that should be at the top of the list.

Thanks for looking in!

one great pic is just outside Gettysburg. It’s the Sachs’s covered bridge. Early in the morning you can get great reflections from pumping station road bridge. The bridge was used by each side during the battle and was crossed during the south’s retreat.

Unfortunately little round top is closed right now. The battlefield around it are going through a lengthy renovation.

Welcome with your first post and first day of membership!

Anyone that has been here for awhile will see this as trolling, click-bait or sly trick to get a 10 page argument going yet again.

There are no user friendly cameras now. To be competitive, they all have near infinite lists of features controlled by choices in book length menu systems.

All newer cameras also have a superlative "Auto" setting derived from decades of technological development. Auto will make any camera or phone user friendly.
Welcome with your first post and first day of memb... (show quote)

The Z8 and Z9 do not have a full auto mode.

Hello
I belong to a few closed groups involving my Navy past.
People in the groups including Facebook, often post pics of our boat, with and without people in them.
All of the photos are scans of pics from the 60’s through 80’s.
The pics can be currently downloaded in Facebook and are often small in size and needing cleaning up.

I want to set up a SmugMug gallery where the group can share the pics . Some of the pics would be resized and fixed and offered back to the group on the same page. Most of them photos have no original author identified but all are from crew members. Also often back then the ships photographer would snap pics of people on the boat and give them a copy.

The smugmug gallery would have the shopping cart available where, members could order prints etc.
My account is not a higher tier, so all pricing would be default with nothing going to me.

Is this something that would be seen as acceptable, and would there be any issues?

This is a feature in smugmug for events like weddings where you allow guests to upload cell phone photos for all to see.
Thanks
Jim

Always great seeing Scotland shots.
Spent 4 years stationed in Holy Loch in the 80’s
A circular polarizer would look great with the cloudy weather, especially bringing more detail in the sky and reducing the overall glare

As noted, keep the iso down, preferably at the sharpest aperture.
With no foreground and that distance, a stop or 2 from wide open would be best.
Lower the ISO to 100
Set up on a tripod with vibration reduction off.
Use a trigger or delay timer. Do not push the shutter button without a delay.
Try to shoot at blue hour. You get city lights with some better detail in the buildings.

I pick up my camera, walk out the door and to me the measure of success is the number shots taken and the number of keepers produced. Few or no shots make it a failed day

When I was younger I would pickup my fly rod, drive three hours to my favorite stream, fish from dawn to dark without even a rise let alone a strike. Drive 3 hours home and consider it a great day.

I wonder why the difference?

Depends on your mindset.
If you spend time to take in the moment vs just clicking, all outings would be good ones.
I still drive for hours to get a shot.
There is nothing like standing anywhere and watching a sunrise, sunset, or have a milky way background. Good shot or bad, each trip is great. Beats sitting on the couch or sleeping in

Good review.
Z9 still lags in AF which is to be expected but as the review states if you are in the Z ecosystem this is as good as it gets.
But a big giant leap over the Z7II and Z6II in AF performance.

What is great about the ZA9 is the superior image quality which is to be expected. Something Sony and Canon have lagged in.
In the end the purpose of photography is the final image. In that, Nikon has never lost its edge.

What has happened is that. Entry level cameras are better than past. The very low end has been eliminated by cell phones.

I’ve been using ON1 for a few years now.
I’ve tried most major competitors but always found myself back to ON1.
The software doesn’t do any individual thing the best, but is competent or as good as the others on every one of them.

The software combines into one what others require multiple outside modules to do. And there is no separate charge to add the features. If there are any issues, the company addresses them quickly and releases updates. Updates are timely and include fixes, new features and add new camera/lens support.
Many competitors, including Skylum, rarely offer updates and patches. When they do, they often charge as a new version, or change the name slightly and offer as a new product.

What impresses me most is that ON1 will often revisit already good features and make them better. They actually read and implement customer suggestions and ideas.
One of the biggest complaints the software has is the steep learning curve. The reason for this is because it offers so much, it can overwhelm a new user. Once you understand the fact that it contains the equivalent of numerous modules in other software, you’ll pick it up quick.
Focus and get proficient on one thing at a time and you’ll not only enjoy it more, but will grow in your post processing abilities.
Also there are tons of training videos on both YouTube and the paid ON1 plus.
Good Luck
