Watching YouTube last night, there was an ad for a Helix mattress. You give them your physical requirements, and they "design" the perfect mattress for you. In other words, they take Model A, B, or C off the shelf. Then they ship it compressed into a rather small box. I'm not planning to buy a mattress, but I looked at their site. Naturally, pricing wasn't displayed, but one of the tabs at the top was "Financing." Imagine the price if financing is available. Another negative - the first thing they wanted me to do was fill in all my contact info. That's where I stopped. If they can't tell me how much their product costs, I'm not giving them all my contact info.

I'm not going to pay over $1,000 for a mattress. Every time I go to the dump, I see a perfectly good mattress set off to the side. A sheet will cover those stains.

A few years back, one of my kids got me a memory foam mattress. I tried. It took about a week for my back to tell me: no more. I looked things up (doing my GoogleSpert research!) and I found a manufacturer of boat cushion foam. Wowza! I bought a couple slabs of different high density firmness- and I'm happy.
Yes, they also came flat. Thru trials and (many) errors I learned to put the rolled up mattress into a large (ard) size trahs bag and use the vacuum to reflatten it. I could then easily put two into a dust-mite mattress bag, with a heat reflector blanket in between. I now have a nice firm mattress I can summer/winter flip over. Maybe $200 total.

Not a very well written article. From the article, "Until recently, archaeologists believed that the Clovis people, who claimed to have arrived in North America some 13,000 years ago, were the first Americans."

Exactly when did the Clovis people make the claim that they were first?

The article also uses the phrase "Big Archeology" which makes it sound like some type of conspiracy.

It also talks about information from the "Joe Rogan Experience". Yep...that's where I go for all of my archeology news.

Do you think he meant to include the vets that went and got themselves captured as well? Nah, Mr Spanky-Bone-Spurs despises those Americans.

You don't remember the "49%"?
Teachers, firefighters, police, and all the Vets.
All expendable to the Right Wingers.

They changed their name, moved some titles around, same ol GQB agenda.

NO!
For the first 90 days, Amazon has a full warranty.
For the first 5 years, HGST has their warranty.
Concurrent contracts. Amazon's would be a mite faster and easier.

THE number one upgrade for old(er) computers- especially Macs- are SSDs.
Cheap? That HGST 4tb drive plus a 1tb SSD makes a *killer* Fusion drive.
Takes 15 minutes to replace the dinky HDD in a Mac Mini with a SSD.
Can't boot Windows, but a SSD RaidO for all your PC apps and data works very well.
The NVME sticks on a PCI card bypasses the SATA bus and goes @ 3x faster!
Especially on those SATAII cMacPros I've been re animating.

Times Have Changed.
Have you seen inside those SSDs?
A !tb Teamgroup is 2 chips on a thumb size board with a SATA interface. Hide it internally. With tape!
I've got a mini PC that did just that. Entire PC is @ the size of a 3.5" HDD. No moving parts.
If I had your money I'd go for the super M2 Mac Studio that just dropped.

It looks like no one is making the traditional TV DVR. I hope I have one in the garage. Progress is working backwards.

There was a discussion about lawyers and advertisers.
The advertisers paid for that particular episode So, if you recorded it and played it later,
That advertiser received free airtime, and the advertisers that paid for the new showing got none.

There are ATSC DVRs available. Most I've seen require HDMI input.

I haven’t had an issue recording the TV I get on the regular channels, network TV. I don’t need to record streaming shows because they’re always online and you can select them anytime. Currently with Dish TV DVR, about $10/month, I can record up to ~300 to 400 shows even up to a month in advance or even program them while I’m away.

Only problem with Dish, or any other satellite provider is here in Florida, we get summer thunderstorms all the time and at 4 o’clock you can bank on one arriving. That’s the point in which it ‘might’ interrupt the satellite signal and lose your recording….Cheers.

We have Spectrum. They're a PITA, but not too real bad.
We got new phones, and with them new plans. Dropping the "Premium" channels I'd save @$100/month!
Two months later, they called. All that was for new Customers only. I'm now saving only $30/month.
To get that original deal, I'd have to cutoff service and return all equipment, wait two months, and re apply. ?
Tempted... But the fiber folk and that 5g tower are coming.
And we were limited to occasional 80 to 100mb Internet. after midnite.
AT&T put up a fiber junction box on the wall. Magically, suddenly we were over 200.

We had Dish, who were bought out by Direct then both bought out by AT&T here.
Who then replaced various History, Tech and Science channels with OTA channels of Spanish speakers.
We had a few days when the satellite was eclipsed by the sun for @ 20 minutes, mid day. And a few by the blimp.
Otherwise, great reception. Always..

Until new apartment managers came in, decrying the "trailer trash" look of a half dozen dishes.
The workers they hired couldn't figure out how to just move them to the middle of the roof.
The workers from Dish didn't have ladders that could reach the roof to fix that fiasco. So
Two weeks later we got Spectrum. HUUGE amounts of crap channels.
We took a few hours, went thru and made a "Favorite" list. 54 channels, half were OTA anyway.
I needed a phone line for my hearing assisted box. A year later we got a discount for non service.
I want that 5G Tower!

I see these two actions in movie after movie, but I've never seen them in real life.

Someone wants to make a cell phone call, but he can't get a signal. He walks around holding his phone up in the air, trying to find a signal. Aside from the fact that we should have coverage throughout the entire country, I've never seen anyone do that.

A person is put into an ambulance or a police car. Someone on the outside taps twice on the car, indicating that the driver can get going. Does that really happen? Is it a Rule?

Kinda sorta.
Downtown LA used to be (in)famous for roaming. And their charges.
You could grab a cup of coffee, walk outside and pace maybe 10 meters.
I've done it! Seven different corps adding roaming charges.
You had to look at your phone to check it.
AAND this is LA.
My apartment building was re stuccoed. Two layers of wire mesh means NO reception on the balcony,

There's a plan in the works to have I95 open in Philly in two weeks. The idea is to fill in the collapsed area with 2000 tons of lightweight glass beads then build a temporary road on top of that. They they'll work on fixing the collapsed sections and the exit ramp that went under the highway.

My wife's reaction was: I don't want to be the first one to drive on that!

Only parts will be "ready" in two weeks.
It'll be a while til it;s "done".
