I’ve been following Ugly Hedgehog for a couple of months now. Every now and then I’ll come across a post and simply shake my head at the comments that follow a person’s question. Arrogance is one thing, ignorance is another. This gentleman was asking a question, not unlike something many of us non-professionals might ask. What he received, right off the bat, was a barrage of knee-jerk reactions. I do admit that I did not read all of the comments. I was so appalled by the first replies that I wanted to wade out here into the quagmire embrace my poor unknown friend, and offer him some bandaids. Actually, I brought ice bags for all of the bruises received via the arrogant comments. Brush up on your manners, my friends, go back in time and remember when you were green around the edges. Otherwise, you’ll simply come off as a know-it-all.

Be prepared! Someone will want to purchase your work. Looks great, by the way.

I’m verry sorry for your loss. I can’t fathom the depth of your sorrow. There is absolutely nothing more rewarding than the unconditional love of our pets. I am often left to wonder, “Why have I been so blessed?” These furry friends come into our lives expecting nothing; they leave us as better people than before they arrived. My hope is that time will ease your loss; and that you will always remember how special you were to your dog. That is a gift for a lifetime! 🙏

Love these! With that beak, have I discovered another raptor? I’m glad to see you were allowed the photo session. Too often, birds hurry off. So glad this one didn’t.

I enjoy surprising myself from time to time with a great capture; I don’t strive to own the best-of-the-best, but simply use what I’m fortunate to own. I learn best by doing, and by vicariously manipulating the heck out of others work. Case in point, I love following NatGeo on Instagram. I’m constantly amazed at the accessibility of the pros. No, they’re not going to critique your work, but they will readily interpret how they captured their own. They are a wealth of information.
