Nobody actually answered your question as to how much space you should get. I'll leave the make and model to others as well as the CPU model and speed as the CPU will be somewhat dependent on what make/model you buy.
However buy it from somebody who will add memory and change the drive size for you without charging you an arm and a leg. I would suggest an upgrade to 32Gb memory and an SSD of 2TB. They will give you back (or should) the old memory and SSD (which you can resell) but will charge you to swap over the OS. The last laptop I bought I went from 512GB SSD to 2TB and (from memory) doubled the memory to 32GB. The OS swap over they charged something like 20 bucks. With 32GB and 2TB SSD it almost doesn't matter what CPU you get although remember the faster the better for performance.

Not enough information. The backup looks to be 1.8TB which is a ton of data. This would probably result in a bit less real space. First up is the drive being backed up to an SSD or HDD ? And is this the first time the backup has been created ? Or is this another attempt ? And is the drive being backed up to an SMR type drive ? Because what you are seeing is an example of what will happen if you try and overwrite a previous created image with ANY backup program. And is a direct result of SMR type writing. I have seen this multiple times until I replaced my HDDs with none SMR type recording. A backup that should have taken maybe a few hours max was taking days. To partially quote from an answer provided elsewhere (sorry about that) -
" The penalty for SMR is when writing, and only when you write enough data. If you only write a few gigabytes occasionally you will probably not even notice, but if you write 100s of gigabytes at a time, your write speed will absolutely tank. SMR doesn't affect read speeds or seek times. So as long as you use it in a more or less "write once, read many times" fashion it's perfectly fine." An image backup writes 100's of gigabytes and you are doing this. Problem is even worse if you are overwriting a previous file.

I'm with 14K, but the problem with the add as shown is cutting off the size of the thread, but there is enough to speculate it to be a 1/4 20 bolt. The Asian's need to understand that the universal thread the world around is not metric but the old Imperial 1/4 20 bolt and nut. Like that hole on the bottom of all cameras using a threaded mount (like a tri pod). So much for metric being 'King'.

Although there are a few hangups where various odd threads have stayed around the world, like the camera thread I can tell you in the last 20 years that is about the only Imperial thread I have used. Everything else has been metric. Metric is "King" everywhere in the world except the US and a couple of other very small countries. Even in the US metric has made huge headway. So its not the Asians problem it is the US's problem. And the problem is their seeming inability to accept change.
I haven't touched my Imperial socket set or spanners other than to shift them into a smaller box. I don't have a 30 year old vehicle either so the sockets will stay in the small box. I suppose I should check them for rusting at some stage. I watched a youtube video earlier today that said most Americans don't even know where Ukraine is and that most R.........s don't even know where the US is. Says it all really.

Regardless of who did what in the actual plane the last part about reporters not getting the facts straight is probably more correct than anything. Why a reporter, who most likely did 'soft' subjects at school, thinks that they can apply their 'knowledge' to any technical subject especially when their 'facts' came from some sort of media person (same background) and expect us to believe anything they write is beyond me.

Whenever I see someone comment a post is in the wrong section, and it is in the correct section, I assume it was moved there from the wrong section by Admin.

This is the problem with assumptions. As far as I can tell most people actually do post to the correct section (not all, as has happened here, but most). I have no idea what the percentage is but SUSPECT probably 80-90%. And then we get the bleating that it IS incorrect and/or shouldn't even be there from those whose comprehension is limited and don't know what Chit-Chat etc really means. As has happened here a few DID KNOW it had been shifted by the Admin but I didn't. Not that I was complaining about the section but those complaining about the section. Gets very convoluted.

What don't you understand about the section title "General Chit Chat"? The only topic prohibited is political.

It was originally posted in General Photography, and Admin must have moved it to Chit Chat. Happens all the time. What don't you understand about that?

When the Admin changes stuff like that he should add a comment that HE/SHE moved it to a more appropriate section. But either way it ended up in the right section. I object to those who don't read what Chit-Chat is about (apologies to those two who HAPPENED to know it had originally been posted in the wrong section).

But you don't care that after I told him that the admin would move his thread I also told him to
1. Download the manual and service manual so perhaps he could figure it out himself.
2. Refer him to a guy I know that is very good with those vintage receiver.
3. Refer him to a forum where a lot of people with electronics knowledge and audio equipment frequent.

So calling people BS for that is more rude than reminding someone that he/she posting in the wrong section.

To your first of your paragraph I said "Leaving aside the fact that the OP would probably get better results elsewhere (although there are some good answers here anyway)"
To your 2nd paragraph I have not said anything about posting in the wrong section. I did however make some comment about people calling out the usage of Chit-Chat.

What you don't understand is that the thread was originally posted in the "Main Photography Section" and was moved here after I and Billnikon made our posts.

That's like asking if I can read minds. It is not so much a case of 'not understanding' but more a case of no information gets posted to allow me to understand. So my post still stands but maybe I targeted too many people as being included in the ignorant. I only rarely read General Photography so if a post gets shifted it will get missed unless I/you happen to read it in that short gap of time while it was still there.
Maybe the admin should add a comment that this was a shifted post. No need for this in Attic posts.

Several quotes -
Troubleshooting stereo equipment seems quite off topic
It's not photography so I think the admin will move it.........
This is a photography section. Does your receiver take digital images? Then be gone with you, be banished to the proper section.

What is wrong with you guys ? Are you simply not reading or just basically thick ?
This comes up time and time again and you still simply can't seem to grasp the concept.
This query was posted in "Chit-Chat (non-photography talk)" so is a perfectly acceptable subject.
Leaving aside the fact that the OP would probably get better results elsewhere (although there are some good answers here anyway) I do wish some of you would get on the right page and stop wasting my time having to read extra BS.

In New Zealand you pay the doctor or dentist before you leave no matter who eventually ends up paying. Different for surgeons who would expect a bank transfer very quickly after you have left the hospital unless prior approval has been obtained from your insurance. And remember we have done away with checks. Things are tightening up everywhere.

As much as I would like congress to address issues on their own merit, you demonstrate your lack of understanding of legislation in our country with your holding hostage comments as riders and pork barreling are nothing new in our legislative process. Additionally, your point regarding employers is well taken but last time I checked cartel member, gangbangers and drug dealers are not interested in picking lettuce in the Imperial Valley.

I would suggest that the idea anything done to stop i*****l i*******ts would also stop cartel members, gangbangers and drug dealers is extremely naive ! Tattoo their foreheads, however, will have more effect.

.............................You tell us how to change our government from afar. We don’t tell you how to run yours.

Can't resist.
If you want to stop illegal border crossing then prosecute those employing them. That will solve 98% of this problem. Oh wait, that will force up the price of vegetables, cheap housekeeping for the rich people etc.
And the nastiness going on by tying Ukraine to illegal bordering crossings is sheer outright political blackmail (the sort of activity that starts off dictatorships). This sort of activity screws the whole idea of democracy. Both these issues should be dealt with separately. The USA is down the dunny now (a dunny is what you Americans call "the restroom").
I can't tell you anything other than point out things that you might not be capable of accepting. The reason why the US doesn't tell us how to run our country is because we are too small to bother with (until China starts spreading but then you will find a way to blackmail democracy again) and the the US is becoming too insular AGAIN.
If you want the US to be run by the biggest crook alive, with the largest ego and the most selfish nature (ie no empathy) then carry on. No names of course. At least the Roman Empire took longer to die than the US will if this goes ahead. My personal opinion only.

..........We do have a feckless administrator who is allowing unfettered invasion of unvented i*****l a***ns but he’s not a dictator, ..............How does NZ deal with i*****l i*********n?

To answer the second bit first - I guess we are lucky in that we don't have a physical boundary like you guys do. Plus we don't have an economy that is as cheap as yours is because we have don't have cheap labour. What we do have is a society that lets in rich people who buy up land for themselves thus depriving NZers of said land. Most of these people happen to be Americans so what do they think of the situation in their own country that they want a bolt hole for themselves and families ? We NZers h**e this happening.
The first bit is also untrue because the USA has just spent the last 40 years doing nothing about the unwelcome visitors. Some of these were Republican leaders. Now all of a sudden a situation which has lasted 40 years is being used to blackmail democracy. Your speaker has effectively said that wh**ever is done about i*****l i*********n he won't support it because his potential new leader won't let him until the e******ns.
If Ukraine goes under it will be because of the combined effort of 2 men in the US. Personal gain against democracy. I and a whole lot of other people around the world will consider the US as ancient history. A shame really. Personal gain against democracy - sounds, and looks, a whole lot like a dictatorship to me. You know, the thing that can't happen in your country.
This has nothing to do with i*****l i*********n - it is outright blackmail against democracy.
This is my last entry on this subtract as it is like arguing with a priest - you cannot convince somebody who doesn't want to be convinced. Somebody who "believes".

of the balance of the nation.

The USA should by now be one nation, not a collection of squabbling smaller bits. Some of those bits happen to have more population than others but that is not important. The concept of those smaller bits has run its course. The ancient idea of the EC effectively means that the US can be ruled by a minority. And this is how dictatorships start. Going back 200 years when anybody, and everybody, emigrated to the US you ended up with possibly a larger collection of certain types of human traits who left other countries maybe a little poorer in those same traits. One of those traits was stubbornness and another was desire for independence. These traits combined can cause a certain degree of not being able to work together for the greater good and leave a lot of room for selfishness and intolerance to become the norm. I think that Joe Biden would like to retire but feels he can't because it is leaving the nation exposed to a fate worse than death. Which is now looming with more certainty daily.
