As typical with all things Apple, it's not easy unless you have an iOS desktop or laptop.

Is it easier with an android tablet?

Yeah he can get rid of the 610 and the 7000. The D750 would do whatever the D610 can. The D850 can do 19MP DX images no probem so he doesn't need the D7000.

Do either of you know what he does with the cameras? I have 4 bodies and use all of them when I'm covering a show. Maybe he has a reason for what he has? Just sayin'....

I think much depends on the performance you expect to get from them. Some years ago I got 3 of the Flashpoint flashes from Adorama and they've worked well for my simple needs. I'm sure you get what you pay for if you plan on capturing water drops or splashes you may need to get better lights with a guaranteed flash duration. If you plan to do professional product photography you may need to invest in better lights that guarantee color temperature accuracy. Some lights will pair with your metering system and give you TTL flash metering instead of doing it manually. Some lights have faster recovery times.

Nailing down your expectations will help you determine what to buy.

For about 5 years now my cheap Flashpoint lights have never let me down, haven't even had to replace a flash tube. They've gone through about 20,000 actuations. I suspect Neewer will do about the same?

One basic example of raw vs tiff is tiff has the white balance baked into the image. If you want to adjust it in the future you will be making adjustments to previous adjustments. A raw file has none of these baked in adjustments.

Is this specifically a photography tour? If so, I would expect them to tell you what equipment they recommend. The tour I took on the North Shore of Lake Superior expected people to have a tripod for low light and water movement shots. If you haven't already, invest in a light weight compact travel tripod.

I have one of the Nikon 10-24 3.5-4.5 models and I love it for doing close up work or architectural features. Think about an old cabin with a wraparound porch - at 10mm you can stand in the corner and get a really cool shot of the entire porch along both walls, old cars, airplanes etc. Close focus distance is something like 9" and with the right aperture everything close and far will be in focus - I think it's a great, fun lens but I don't think I've ever used it for landscapes....

They have a cheaper model now that has received good reviews for around $300 which isn't much more than your Tokina. I've only had one Tokina lens, an ancient 80-200 2.8 and it was an amazing lens for the time... built like a tank and great image quality.

so, what's with the "code" you have to redeem within 30 days and have you set a 5 year reminder to get your account upgraded to lifetime? If it's legit it seems like a good deal...

About a week ago I ordered some really cheap laser cut survival cards from an eBay seller, shipping was some stupid amount like 78 cents!!! Estimated delivery is in SEPTEMBER LOL - No problem... I'm patient.

I have had a Nikon DX5000 for many years. It was a good entry level and I am not considering upgrading to the 5600....any thoughts?

Keith

You've got several suggestions from others, I agree that you're due for an upgrade (keep the D5000 body though :) it's nice having 2 cameras) you haven't said what lenses you have. Someone suggested the newer mirrorless router and that might be great advice if you aren't too heavily invested in SLR lenses. If you've got lenses you love I'd maybe look at a 7000 series or maybe even the D500?

Are you saying 'brand new' for this offer? They're listing D610s used at KEH for $625. You've been letting the FF peer pressure get too far into your thinking. Don't put new money on a camera two releases out of date. But, if we can't get you off the kool aid, look at a D750.

I ran in circular login along these lines:

- D610 for Cheap BUT
- D750 for not much more when on sale BUT
- The D750 has the same sensor as the 610 so is it worth it BUT THEN
- the D500 is about the same price as a D750 and is amazing BUT
- the D610 is so dang cheap right now...

LOL Ultimately I'm waiting and will buy a D500 as it makes the most sense for what I do. Seems to be the most bang for the buck and I'm not ready to make the jump to another format like mirrorless

I got a Passport 2TB external drive for $105.99 at a local computer store. Instructions in English and several other languages and easy to install.

Though i also use an external drive for a time machine backup it is a wonderful thing to know your laptop is backed up several times a day over the network to NAS like an airport time machine even when it’s not physically connected to anything.

I have a related question. I already own a domain and have a host. What website building sofware would anyone recommend to build the website itself? I would note that Wordepress requires using a wordpress host and the domain that they "give" you. That part is not free.

Nope, you don't have to use a "wordpress host" - in fact, you can punch a hole through your home firewall, setup an Apache web server on your home computer with MySQL plugged in and then install Wordpress - all of this is free and off the shelf.

As Rongnongno said, your hosting provider may have a "canned" wordpress installation preconfigured for you but if you have FTP or shell access you can upload the WordPress package to your hosted directory, create a database file and get things rolling but in all likelihood you won't have to get your hand this dirty.
