Ron, in my humble opinion you are already answering your concerns when you say you are leaning toward the XT-2. From what I know the D500 is a great camera for action and wildlife not meaning it cannot perform to perfection with landscapes and other subjects. I am sure you know that once using the XT-2 you have to sell your present gear and you will take a hit.
If you have tried the XT-2, I am sure you know that it is lighter than the D500 which is an asset for hiking.

No i have not tried the XT 2.We are not close to a camera shop, normally like to touch/hold before i buy.
As i understand it, i have large hands and would still need a add on battery therefore getting in big camera territory.
Love the Fuji color though. When i shot film i always had Fuji Velvia 100 in my camera.
I still may get a Fuji X100f with fixed 23mm sounds interesting. Thanks

From the sounds of your lens selection I would guess you like to do landscapes.
With that, I would highly recommend the D750 over the D500 OR the Fuji for a wider view and much better low light capability.

Mt shooter, i am glad you planted the seed on the D750,i would of never considered Fx.
I seldom check Nikon refurbished site, but i am glad this time. Thanks again

I am biased ... I have had NIKON equipment for over 70 years ... now have the D500 and the D810 plus an assortment of lenses ... like you, I do not sell my images ...I teach digital photography and do individual tutoring. Since you already have NIKON lenses it would seem that switching might be counterproductive ... The D500 is probably the best DX camera available ... Again, in my judgement, the NIKOR lenses are the best. Good Luck !

By the way, I have a Canon G5X which I have with me in my little MINI Cooper S, as my bridge camera ...

Dr too bad we were not closer you would of had a new student. Thanks

I had the X-T2 and really enjoyed it. I ended up selling it after six months. My issue was battery life and focus speed because I do a lot of birds in flight using continuous shooting. For landscapes, it was great. And I loved the EVF and still miss it today. I am now shooting Nikon and love it also but I probably would have stuck with the Fuji system if I didn’t have so much issue with battery drain. Good luck!

Thanks Laura for your observation, that reinforces my decision

The X-T2 is an excellent camera. One thing to look forward to, Sigma recently announced that they are dropping micro 4/3d lens development and are concentrating on Fuji and Sony lenses. So, sometime in 2018, you may have the opportunity to get some of that amazing Sigma glass on a fully Fuji compatible lens.

Thank you for the news

Who said anything about a D850, not me. I recommended a D750.
Better than a D500 for what you want and less money as well.

Sir i understood that you recommended the D750, but with the shutter problem recall has me gun shy

Thanks for clarification though

Here’s a thought. Keep the excellent, highly-rated D300.
Buy other Nikon lenses you are considering.
(And here’s the surprise) Buy a Fujifilm X100F with its fixed 23mm f/2 lens (35mm field of view) for landscape (and closeup shooting) in the parks (plus family, events & travel) when you don’t want to carry the Nikon.

rjaywallace that is an interesting option,I still can save $1000
