I've found it to be a significant improvement. I can go to the areas of my interest quicker without sorting through items that don't interest me. For me, it provides a more focused experience and a better use of my time. I have even found myself visiting areas for a quick look that I hadn't used much before. Understand that some may have found the new format too much of a change.

Another option depending on budget. Check out PugetSystems.com for recommendations for the type of photography processing you need. You may have to search the site to find the appropriate links. They obviously specialize in LR/PS but are able to meet other needs. Make notes of what they recommend for LR or PS processing. If your budget allows, they will build what you need. My budget didn't fit what they recommended.

So, next go to Xoticpc.com. Browse what they offer off the shelf. They always have specials. Many of their offerings, whether specials or not, are close to what pugetsystems.com recommends and most are customizable depending on your needs/wants. This is what I did on my last purchase and got a screaming machine "off the shelf" with some customization, at a reasonable price. Not a Costco price or a Dell price, but much lower than a custom shop. It was an Asus machine.

Wish I could claim that I figured all this out on my on, but all credit goes to a missing in action, much admired and long term participant on UHH- Gene51. Hope all is well with you Gene.

I would make you an offer but mine has been working flawlessly for 5 years now. Incidentally that model incorporates an automatic nozzle cover that keeps the ink from drying out and clogging heads between use. Always use only OEM Epson inks though.

Thanks for the reminder about the nozzle cover. How often do you print with the 3880? Life got in the way just after I bought mine, but plan to jump back in now- might just keep it. I don’t think some realize the capabilities of this printer.

Also have a never used Epson V-700 scanner, but have definite needs/plans for it.

My 3880 apparently not repairable and don't want about $500 in ink to go to waste.
p900 not compatible with larger volume 3880 cartridges really pi### me off at Epson. Otherwise love the quality.

Price? Shipping$ ?

You are right, shipping might be an issue. We’ll see.

I have the Epson 3880, never used with all the accessories from the original box. Haven't decided yet, but considering selling it and buying something simpler- it may be beyond my needs or ability. I haven't researched it's value yet so have not settled on an asking price. I know the printer's capabilities and will keep it and figure everything out if I can't get value. If you are interested, let me know and we can talk. Thanks!

You have some good advice from some very experienced photographers to work through. My advice is to pay particular attention to Gene51 and Trix- they know their stuff.

Yes, indeed. We have been stopping in every so often on our trip up to NJ and back home South. We use I-81 as the main route.

If possible, stay overnight in the Hotel Roanoke. Lot’s of RR history. N&W owned the hotel and their offices were directly across the street in the two buildings connected by a pedestrian enclosed walkway on around the 3rd-4th floor. Now the hotel and the former offices belong to Virginia Tech- at least the last I heard. The hotel is now in the Hilton chain and has been completely revamped. The N&W main tracks separate Hotel Roanoke from downtown and the RR museum, but there is a really nice pedestrian enclosed walkway over the tracks from the hotel.

Yes, I’m a retired former Southern Railway officer and spent a lot of time in Roanoke when we merged in 1982. Now in Norfolk and retired from NS here.
