Many of you know Bryan Peterson is an advocate of f22. He is routinely criticized for it. I take his advice.

Interesting image but focus or camera movement makes poor image.

I am very familiar with fishing in Yellowstone, although I've preferred the lakes over the streams. But I am a fly fisherman. When I fly fish Yellowstone it is far from the madding crowd.

I have a good friend who is planning a vacation to Alaska. He knows nothing about photography. He will be on a cruise ship and has several excursions planned. Much to my surprise, his budget is under $1,000. Any recommendations?

Nikon Z50 with two lens kit.

But mostly will use iPhone.

Labradoodle? Looks just like my S.O.’s grand doggie, Charlie. He gets quite animated as well.

Good dog! Is he a drinker?

Oh, yeah. He’ll eat and drink pretty much anything.

Started on Christmas balls today. They add color to his poop.

Now having both cameras I find that I am favoring the new baby Z7ii over the Z6ii which I have now for about a year. I know both are similar except for resolution 45 vs 24 MP, fps 10 vs 14, file sizes, lack of AA filter on the Z7ii.
When would you use one over the other (use cases), especially for those that have both cameras? Does going back to the Z6ii feel like a letdown, after shooting with the Z7ii for a while?

I traded my Z6 for a Z7ii about a year ago. I got it primarily for the SD card, which I use as my primary. But I've appreciated some of its features a lot.

My current kit (Z7ii, Z50, and two lenses for each plus 200-500) could be my last new stuff. Healthy at 76 but I can see not far over the horizon.

As a practical matter, I've found myself grabbing my Z50 much more often than the Z7ii. Mostly due to size and weight plus the 250 kit lens and APS C sensore makes it better for modest telephoto than my 24-200. Although recently it is getting left behind for my iPhone 14 plus.

Nikon Z50 with either the 16-50mm and 50-250mm lenses or the 24mm f/1.7 in place of the 16-50mm. Great for travel, should fit your budget.

My vote also.

I use it much more than my Z7ii and it was the only one I took to Europe a couple weeks ago. Well, that plus my iPhone 14 plus. It takes awesome images. Can shoot in raw. Up to 44 MP images. Three lenses up to 3X. It would do the job you need and is totally inconspicuous on the streets nowadays. Plus the image editing capability in the camera is awesome.

You may have to explain what zoomies are but if it sounds anything at all like what the word implies, I will have to go with, certainly.

There is roughly a 4-foot span between the back door and a chain link fence that runs parallel to the back wall of the house - this fence keeps the beasties out of the hot tub. The Pom has no problem negotiating the turn, but the laws of physics have a different take on the 110-pound Saints... So far, no facial reconstructions have occurred.

So if, by zoomies, you mean a dog that goes from 0 - 60 faster than a fuel-injected 427, then the answer is yes.
You may have to explain what zoomies are but if it... (show quote)

If that is what it means, then for sure! He often spins out on the hardwood floor as he is zooming around the chairs, couch, and dining room table...about 60 ft total circuit. Sometimes takes five or six laps to get the energy out.
