I just heard that Canon fell by the wayside because of cell phone cameras and that sales of all DSL... equipment has fallen to 50% of what they used to be. My question is if someone was to invest in upscale camera equipment what would be the way to go and what does the future hold for the cameral market?

Thanks for the info. I have looked at the info but I think it is still in the making. I find that Linux takes some degree of tech knowledge which I don't have as of yet maybe in the future. In the meantime I am keeping my Lytro camera in the back drawer.

I have a Lytro square camera and I like the size and pictures it takes. However, the program Lytro created is lousy and since Google bought the company nothing is happening. Also, I recently converted my old Apple to Linux Mint since it was no longer upgradable and It has gotten a new lifeline. My question is, is there a program in Linux that can download the Lytro format?

Nice John, I have been there and heartily agree. Talking about Portland I spent one night at Tmberline Lodge early part this year.

Traigh na h Uamhag Beach, Scotland---- This beautiful deserted beach on the North Coast of Scotland is one of the most stunning place I have woken up to, to peep out of the motorhome window at six in the morning and see this is all the inspiration to get down there with a camera--and I did.Scotland.

I have to look for it but I cannot promise since this was quite a few years ago. My grandfather has been dead some time and I have since moved to the States.

Thanks hpkott, Im not sure if you would see the French coast from here even with a pair of bins, so I would imagine your Grandfathers shot was taken nearer Dover, about 60 miles east of here, --It would be interesting to see the picture and try and work out where he was?

A very famous pro who is right now the Official White House photographer.

He does EXCEPTIONALLY good work.

This is one of his best:

A shot from the Situation Room while the Bin Laden Raid was occurring. Some say it was taken at the moment Seals shot and killed Bin Laden.

Note the expressions...

Love it. My grandfather has a similar picture taken through a pair of fieldglasses 1940 from France. How times change for the better.

I am taking an online photography course. The teacher uses no bag but a jacket which he claims is more secure and everything is handy / available.

I'm curious what bag, backpack, hard shell or soft, do you use for everyday carry from A to B? I'm looking at the Peak Design Everyday Messenger but the price is a bit steep, unless someone reading this is absolutely blown away by it. I am looking for protection, functionality, strength (well built), comfortable for the hike in/out, and a well deserved price. Again, just a daily carry. Thanks Hogs!!
