Great shots. If I take the train to Silverton and return by coach, is there a preferred side of the train or coach to sit on for views and photos? Thanks

FZ1000 is an awesome camera. Have had mine over a year and have found zero to complain about. For my use, don’t even miss the full bundle and bulk of DSLR previously used. Enjoy traveling so much more now.

Have been using the Canon G7X MK II for 1 1/2 year plus and continue to be impressed with it. I do have other SLR and Bridge cameras but the G7X MK II is pretty much my Go-To camera. The photos are amazing and it is very handy—-great for travel! I originally was caution about no viewfinder but have had zero problems with the high resolution screen, even in high sunny conditions. The photo quality of the 1” sensor is greatly appreciated and I have not suffered by not having the extra zoom.

Dion and the Belmonts and the rest of the Doo Wop era was and is still great music. I too listen to him, Bobby Rydell, Bobby Vee, The Crests, and Johnny Maestro on Pandora. Rydell still performs throughout mostly the Northeast. Occasionally look up some old American Bandstand shows on YouTube as well. Ahhh —- “The Good Old Days!”

Both are equally Great. For me, the mood of #1 is best, although #2 may be technically better. Great shots

I’m wondering why no one has mentioned the Canon G5X Mk ii with 1” sensor, EVF, 24-120mm equip with max apertures of f1.8-f2.8 at max zoom, high burst rate, WiFi, and pocketable for $900. For someone who likes the Canon system, it really makes sense. The G7x Mk iii would be another good choice but has a different (not as fast) lens and no EVF, bit at $150 less. BYW, I still use my Canon S100 when my choice is a true pocketable. Definitely not the fastest but shoots raw and very capable for a small sensor p&s. The Sxxx series can occasionally be found at a very reasonable price via this and other forum classified sections or eBay. The S100 has gps, which was replaced with WiFi for the S110 and final S120. Definitely older technology, but still decent little workhorse.
I’m wondering why no one has mentioned the Canon G... (show quote)

My G7X MK II does have the f1.8-f2.8 lens and although no pop-up EVF, is approx. 1/2 price of the G5X MK II if costs matter. The G5X MKII does have faster burst FPS and is excellent choice.

Thanks for the excellent presentation. Planning to tour there in fall 2020 perhaps (already have fall 2019 trip planned). If you enjoy covered bridges-Parke County, Indiana (Terre Haute area) has a festival every October with numerous bridges and grist mills over several routes that is very nice.

Canon G7X MK II is a great P&S that I am particularly happy to have when traveling. Fast lens for low-light, 1” sensor provides excellent IQ, and color saturation is excellent. You will probably appreciate the intuitive Canon menus. The Lumix ZS100 is also very good and has a couple extras she may like better: Electronic viewfinder, longer zoom, 4K, but has a fixed screen as opposed to Canon’s tilting screen. Both are 20MP and have built in wireless capability.

The Panasonic LX100 II offers more flexibility than the Fuji. The Fuji has better IQ because of the APS-C sensor but for me the extra zoom of the Panasonic is important and the IQ is still exceptional. The Lumix FZ1000 is a little larger bridge camera that is very well balanced for its size and the longer zoom has very good IQ. The FZ1000 price point with the features and flexibility offers a great bang for the buck.

Really hope your are chronicling your photos with historical facts to publish a book or two. Really worthwhile project. Many great efforts on UHH, but you and CHG Canon, perhaps together, could market some great products. Keep up the great work.

Yes, brings back memories from a long time ago that at times seems like only yesterday. Contrasts of a beautiful country with the ravages of war. Thanks.

Excellent peaceful mood. Could sit there all day with a glass of red, good book to read, and listen to the gentle water. Feel like I am there. Thanks.

Saigon,
Thank you for the wonderful photo sets you provide. Always great quality and I appreciate the additional commentary. Those that do not enjoy additional comments may be better served to just skip over info they don’t like as opposed to attempt stifling things others do appreciate and enjoy. Keep up the excellent work.

Any refurbished Nikon 7200, Nikon 7500, or Canon 80D would be a great beginning in my opinion. You may also find a Pentax K70 (perhaps new) in your price range. Pentax is not as well known as the others but is an excellent camera with great Image Quality. Good luck with selection.
