ProShow is the best slide show software. They have a free online version called ProShow Web (http://www.photodex.com/proshow/web). You can use that to create your slide show including deciding how long you want each slide to display. And I believe you can post your slide show online if you don't want to make the DVDs and ship them. I use ProShow Producer so I have actually never tried the Web version. Good luck!

I used this method and it worked great. It is a little bit of trial and error but it does give you a sense of which way to tweak. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3XK4hf-NF0

Agreed! It is a great movie but not in the traditional sense of the word “movie”.

Why 18-400mm? I can't imagine having a use for that. Not saying that there isn't a use for it. Maybe it is a failure of my imagination.

What do you think Chris? Where are you, what are you photographing, what are you trying to achieve, would you imagine, when you tell yourself "wow, I sure am glad I have this lens!"

Mike

Mike, I went to Africa in June with my 70D and only this lens. I know I took a chance with just one lens but I didn't want to lug others or even change lenses in the middle of a safari.

I tweaked the focusing at each of the lengths using the Tamron Tap-In Console which worked very well. I was very happy to have the 18-400 length whether I was in Cape Town shooting panoramic of Table Mountain or getting up close to animals in the bush. Look up the last few posts by me to see some of the pictures I took with the lens. I was very happy with it's performance. One note, I am not a professional photography so I take pictures just to make me happy.

Great shots! We were in Sabi Sands in June. Loved every minute of it and can't wait to get back. But Australia and NZ are on our short list for either this year or next!

I am an amateur as well (67 yrs old) and have the Canon 70D. I have both lenses you are considering. I have used my 70-300 at air shows and it does very well. The Tamrom is newer to me and I have not had the chance though I will this summer. I do like the extra reach of the 400 over the 300 and, as an amateur, the image quality is fine for me. I used it in Africa last summer and it performed very well. Do a search on my name here in the hog and you can see some of my shots that I have posted.
