Developed in Photoshop to HDR, reduced dark shadows, added color to sky, and sharpened. Hope this helps and you need a photo developing program.

You may not have an application to adjust contrast but on this photo of yours I reduced the contrast to lighten the shadows to bring out more detail, and in the burned out highlight areas it can bring out more detail there also. It shows more of what the human eye can see but the camera cannot record. I used Photoshop.

I think this photo of yours is a really good shot and worth adjustments. I would have liked seeing it in full color.

It's too bad you felt the need to add color that wasn't in the original shots. I was there in 2005 and I'm sure the colors haven't changes that much. Millions of people have been there and I'm sure they feel the same.

Photography always seems to be of two types: a decision between capturing a great shot or recording an event. Your second shot is the best of the event. For me, the series becomes redundant and detracts from the beauty of a single great shot that expresses the event. I think we sometimes need to resist the desire to show every shot we take, even though it's hard to do, for me also.

FROZEN IN TIME
By Bob Story

I came upon this place, nearly lost in time,
Beckoning like the mystery of an unsolved crime,

Where life became fragile and succumbed to its fate,
Forgotten by progress and avoided by the Interstate,

This old map shows it was once there,
But alas, now it’s just miles from nowhere,

Broken down buildings with signs painted on,
The colors now faded, the words nearly gone,

An old John Deere covered in weeds and dust,
A victim of time and just left there to rust,

Once proud gas pumps still waiting in line,
Ethyl by the gallon, at a point forty-nine,

A windmill with missing vanes, its turn had ceased,
Just a skeleton in the wind, but still standing at least
Yet...life lingers there still, you can see it if you look,
Golden summer sunlight dancing for the pictures I took,

A place just waiting on this forgotten ground,
For the eye of the camera to come around,

Captured through the lens and now frozen in time,
Images for posterity in this new digital paradigm,

Now history will surely be written of this new age,
When our lives in binary numbers became the rage,

Still...there is this notion that pictures will always last,
Because life has more meaning when seeing our past.

Always prefer color, especially with faces. With photoshop I brought out the real you.

It's a shame you need to add color to these, I've been there and the natural colors are quite amazing by themselves. Also better to always add a person in a shot like these in order to add scale, otherwise they could be any size.

I wouldn't call this a portrait, either photograph the faces closer up or back away to show more of the scenery and not crop off the legs. It's like you weren't sure what kind of a shot you wanted.

First, good photography requires a lot of work that most of us are not willing or able to do. Most of us just want to point and shoot without doing the footwork or research to find the best angle or time of day with the best coloration, usually morning or late afternoon. Secondly, interesting photographs are of interesting things – no getting around that – and has little to do with proper exposure, etc. since the camera can do that for us. Study the scene through your viewfinder first, is it really what you want to capture? lastly, don't be too quick to use telephoto, you can always crop later.

In cities everything is big and tall, you need a wide angle to zoom lens, maybe 18mm to 70mm. You don't need a telephoto and even with an 18mm you won't be able to back far enough away to capture everything, especially indoor shots.
