I use a card reader to upload my pictures to my iPhone, which then sends them to the cloud. You need a card reader that works with the phone. You can probably do something similar with an Android phone.

Just wondering if anyone has found a decent ballpoint pen? I have bought several from Costco and Walmart and I have never found one that in dependable. You would think someone could make a pen that works it is so frustrating to be in the middle of filling out a document and it stops laying down ink.

I use Fisher Space pens. They are the ones from the 70's that write in space and upside down. The company is still around. Their website is SpacePen.com.Little pricey, but they write beautifully.

My sister is going on a cruise and will not have access to the internet. She would like a program that she can use to create a photo book while she is offline on the cruise and when she gets home and online, she can upload the book and have it printed.
She has a Mac. She is going with a friend who has a PC and would like to be able to do the same thing. Is there a program you would recommend? Or one for the Mac and one for the PC? Lightroom would be way more than what she wants.

Wow. Topaz Sharpen is amazing. Thanks tomc601.

It's definitely subject movement. I put the original you posted through Topaz Sharpen and used the stabilize feature and it improved it dramatically. I also processed it to get a bit more contrast and I think it turned out good compared to the original. I don't think it would hold up to a large print but I think it's passable on screen. I wouldn't think of posting someone else's image without permission but if you would like to see what I did let me know and I will post it.

Tomc601, I would love to see your results. Both to see the picture and to see what Topaz Sharpen can do.

This is a demanding situation for hand-holding and a close focus on a subject. A tripod would be the most effective tool to employ, taking your inability to hold perfectly still out of the equation. Your aperture selection and shutter speed seem fine. The VR should be active, but that isn't something I can see in the EXIF. The focus point and focusing mode don't come through either from whatever software was used to create the "jpeg" from the original version of the image from this Nikon camera.

Consider ideas in the linked post, below. Looking at the shape of the flower, I'd consider a single AF point about 2 o'clock in the very center white area, 2 o'clock relative to that black center. I'd have the camera in AF-C (aka continuous) and I'd take several bursts of images when the focus seemed locked. I'd repeat a few times, getting 10+ images when done. This approach is based on my own experiences at the flower moving slightly, or me moving slightly, even with VR support in the lens and / or a tripod. The goal is to get one 'great'. I can trash all those later that don't meet inspection.

Good ideas. I will try them.

Shutter was 1/250.
Was the lace moving in the wind?
Was it hand held? Possible camera movement down and to the left?
Tripod?

The flower was moving in the wind. But I tried a faster shutter speed and holding the flower, same result.

I am trying to take a picture of Queen Anne’s Lace and all the pictures are out of focus. This is on of the better pictures. It doesn’t look too bad until I enlarge it. The camera says it has the focus. I thought f8 would be enough depth of field. I am using a Nikon D750 with a Nikon 24-120 lens. Pictures of other objects are fine, so I don’t think it is a problem with the camera.

I prefer the first version because of the more complete story it tells and because I’m not a fan of the purple coloring in the second version.

I'm not sure what story you think the first version tells. To me it just has a distracting foreground. I would crop out the foreground and leave the photo as is. I prefer minimal post-processing.

We had full time DST in the 70’s and people hated it. I remember the news showing children waiting for the school bus in the dark. I haven’t seen any mention of our experiment with year-round DST 40+ years ago. People have short memories.

I use a $15 cable that does the same thing and is much simpler.

That maybe true. Maybe. It is hard to get a dial tone on a point and shoot.

What’s a dial tone? :)

I am weighing up the difference between the 11 and the 11Pro myself. I did a side-by-side comparison between them in the Apple store. The extra zoom on the Pro is nice, but I found that the bokeh on the Pro was far superior to the basic 11. The display on the Pro is noticeably better too although they are both great.

The price difference between the 11 and the 11Pro is $300. The $400 difference you mention is between the 11 Pro MAX and the 11. The 11 Pro MAX is a much bigger phone. The 11Pro is actually very slightly smaller and lighter than the 11.

After comparing the two I have decided I will go for the 11Pro. The better bokeh for portraits (and selfies) is what clinched it for me.

I am just waiting to see if Santa Claus brings me one for Christmas. I have been a very good boy!!

You are correct about the price difference. I was pricing a 128 GB 11, but since the 11 Pro doesn't come in a 128 GB version, I was pricing the 256 GB model. But you are correct - the difference between the 64 GB or 256 GB versions is $300.

It’s not a zoom. The base model has a 13 and 26mm equivalent field of view and the Pro has an extra 52mm equivalent lens. At least the third lens will let her back off and get better head shots.

But no cell phone will beat a small point and shoot with a zoom.

You're right; Apple is calling it a telephoto, not a zoom lens. At 52mm equivalent, I would not consider it a telephoto lens.

I suggested that for $400 she could buy a point and shoot, but she doesn't want to have to carry a separate device.
