My position completely. The funny thing is I rarely hear people berating the work of Ansel Adams which was heavily "Post Processed", in the darkroom.

I've seen some posts about Fuji cameras and lenses. I have 4 bodies Xe2, Xt1, Xt2 and XH1 & 4 Fuji lenses. I have 16 vintage lenses I use via adapters.

I am very happy with my Fuji gear. I switched from a lifetime of Nikon shooting 6 years ago.

I have a Sony RX100 m3. When I bought the iPhone 11Pro a couple years ago, I compared the pics with the Sony versus the iPhone 11 and decided I liked the latter better. Not sure how the iPhone 12 has been improved, but yes, the iPhones are definitely capable to serve for things that are close (and some of the other phones are supposed to be even better).
PS. Even some of my pics with my older iPhones have been some of my favorites, like this one that was taken with iPhone 4 more than 10 years ago:

I was about to post my second post to the photo gallery when I received the error message that my file was too large. The photo before processing with Topaz DN was 15 meg. After processing the file was 25 meg. So, is Topaz Denoise doing something in addition to reducing noise?

It happens with all my photos I run through Topaz Denoise Ai. It does not bother me. Why don't you ask Topaz. I've always found their tech support people very helpful.

I am surprised in interest in a manual camera since everything today is automatic.

I have a black (not titanium) FM2, standard black leather case, 50mm 1.8, 35mm f2.8, 200mm f4.0 with Nikon 62mm L1bc filter, HN-23 lens hood, HS-11 lens hood. Lenses are all AIS Nikor

But but never thought they were worth the trouble to sell, pack up, and ship.

The 200 f/4 is highly sought after. The FM2 likewise. You will get good money for them both. The FM/FM2 were my fave film cameras. Both the 50 and the 35 will sell though they are not worth a lot. I have a 35 f/2,8 which I use on my Fujis from time to time. Lovely little lens. If you don't use them there will be many grateful buyers out there.

Did a search and didn’t see anything. For mac users only please. I just pulled the trigger and purchased a new M1 Mac Mini with 16GB ram. I've been using a mid-2011 27" iMac since 2011. It only went to High Sierra and doesn’t have ML Graphics so more and more apps don’t work on it. I'd hoped to use the screen as my monitor for the mini but Apple stopped supporting that.

So I am researching monitors that I can AFFORD. I shoot full frame 27MB images.

So my questions:
1. Do I need 4k or can I go with 2K like my iMac monitor?
2. Do I need a monitor that supports Thunderbolt or just HDMI 2.0 (those are the specs for the mini).
3. I'd like a 27" because I have a sunscreen for that size already but is there an advantage of a 32" for photography?
4. Any real life suggestions (meaning you own it).

Remember cost is a factor - I'd like to be able to own a $1,600 BenQ but way out of my budget which is more like $400 at the top in.

Thanks in advance,

Ed

Hi I just bought two ASUS VA27E 27" monitors. They were connected to my MacMini late 2021 running Catalina. They are now connected to a MacPro 5.1 mid-2010 running Catalina. You would probably be able to get 2 for your $400 budget. Of course I'd like a $1600 BenQ but can't get them in Costa Rica and couldn't afford them if I could.

You are making a great decision. Tanks will save you huge amounts of money. Just get the best you can afford. I have Canon and Epson. Both work great. The ink tanks in the Epson last 6 months to a year. The ink cartridges in the Canon do not. I will never buy an ink cartridge printer again.

Adapting lenses is easy. I have Nikon, Industar, Helios, Konica lens on my XT1. Get the 18-135 and you're home and dried.

Second that suggestion. The 18-135 is a great all-round lens. My most used lens.

Hi, I was out shooting with my 80D and EF 100-400 11 lens yesterday, and was approached by another photographer. He asked me why I was using EF lens on a crop sensor camera instead of EF-s lens. I told him I usually use my 5D M4 but that was setup for another project now. He said you shouldn't use that lens on that camera, but couldn't explain why, he just the person at the camera shop told him that. I've never herd that before and my pic's come out awesome " IMO " with that combo. Has anyone else been told this??? Is there any truth to this??
Thanks
Tom

There is no truth in that comment. In fact I sometimes use an old Nikon 75-300 zoom that is, on FF soft at the edges (so I'm told), on a D300 the camera uses the central part of the lens. The sharpest part. Also you get extra reach my 300mm becomes effectively 450mm on the cropped sensor.

After my post asking about MPB "trade/buy" experiences, now I'm wondering if I should trade the fuji xe2 for the fuji xt1. Any suggestions from you more experienced photography guys? Thanks

I have both. My first Fuji was the Xe2. I bought the XT1 and prefer it to the Xe2. The Viewfinder, weather sealing and general handling are better. The sensors are the same so the output is the same.

I still use my Xe2 occasionally and it still makes great images. I just find the viewfinder on the T1 so much better and here is Costa Rica weather/dust sealing is very important.

I'm an amateur. Have enjoyed photography since '84 when I bought my first camera (AE1-program). Current lenses: 23mm and 18-55mm. Looking now for a telephoto for beach (boats, birds, fisherman, etc.) My max price is $500. Might print on occassion up to 24x36. Can get Fuji's XF55-200 at today's national sale price of $499. My question: Rather than pay $400 for 200mm, would there be a camera (with built in lens) at comparable cash outlay I might consider that offers much greater reach? Thank you experts!

The 55-200 is a terrific lens. Buy it. At the current deal, it's a steal. This video will give you some useful information https://www.andymumford.com/blog/2019/3/28/fujifilm-50-140mm-amp-55-200mm-telephoto-comparison-for-landscape-photography-video.

Sure you can get cameras with longer telephotos generally with tiny sensors. Personally I would not go that route.

I have the XE2 it's a great camera. I have the XT2 as well. I love the 16MP sensor in the XE2 (and XT1 if you want a tougher body with a tilting screen - I have one too)it produces magical images.

I can't justify buying the 55-200 at thee moment as I have the 18-135 which is my most used lens. You could buy a vintage M/F Zoom and mount it with an adaptor if you want more reach - there should be a 70-300 out there from Nikon, Canon etc....

Good luck.
