This guy was putting on quite a show in our front yard this morning.
Apparently when I posted this a few minutes, the photo did not get attached. I'm trying again.
This guy woke me up this morning with his gobbling. Apparently he is attempting to attract a mate. Hope he will be successful and they will nest and raise some young ones. He is really impressive when he struts.
On a recent trip to the dentist in a nearby town in rural Oklahoma, I saw this Palomino mare and her young Appaloosa colt in the pasture next to the highway. They were very cooperative in letting me photograph them. I thought I would share one of my photos and ask for your comments. Do you have a favorite horse color? How could this photo. be improved ? Thanks.
I recently acquired a Sony DSC-HX90V pocket Camera. I am overwhelmed by all the settings, etc. Instruction manual has not been very helpful to me. I'm looking for a video or tutorial which will give me step by step instructions on how to use this beautiful little camera. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have two SD cards which I use in my trail camera. One is a 16 GB SD card and the other is an 8 GB micro SD card which I insert into an adapter which has the same demensions as the SC card. I usually carry them in my shirt pocket and alternate them daily when I visit my trail camera. Recently I forgot to remove them from my shirt pocket when I changed shirts. Subsequently my wife washed the shirt, without removing cards, in our automatice clothes washing machine.
Later I found and removed the cards and adapter from the washing machine. Although they appeared to be undamaged, I assumed they had probably been internally compromised by their immersion during the washing cycle. However, without much hope of success, I inserted them into my computer and to my delight found that they were still completely functional.
Although I do not recommend washing memory cards, I do recommend that you check them out before you discard them in the event you accidently immerse them.
Happy Holidays
I also prepare desk and wall calendars, using the photos I have taken during the year, and share them with family and friends and family. This has become somewhat of a tradition and I always look forward to creating and sharing the calendars. I have used Vistapring to print them and have been happy with their quality and service. Thanks for your suggestion on a different printer. I will check them out.
Thanks. We are headed to Sand Dunes NP later this week. Hope to catch some fall color. Do you think the trees will be turning color that far South?
I have used a Sigma DG 150-500 mm lens on my Nikon D7000 for several years and like it very much. However, I do not know whether or not this lens is still available or is compatible with your camera.
What a beautiful photo. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. When eating mushrooms, I stick with the morels. I thought that when I asked for a name I might get some related to current political figures.
It has been an unusual August here on the edge of the cross timbers ecosystem east of Stillwater, Ok. We have had showers every few days with "fairy rings" common. This large "Toad Stool" emerged in our front yard. I set up my camera on a tripod and waited for the toad to arrive but it never did. Anyone know a good name for this fungus?
Thanks for the clarification.
What does any of this have to do with photography? That's why I check this site everyday and post something when I have a comment or question. Although I am a strong advocate of free expression and debate, I hope this great site avoids being drawn into political debates unrelated to photography. As far as I know, no politicians are advocating positions which would inappropriately interfere with our ability to practice photography. Until that happens, I hope this site sticks to discussing issues and opinions about photography.
Thanks for the id information and the generous comment.
