I'm looking for a used wide angle lens for my d500. Any ideas on where to look?
I have a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 (IF) DX ATX PRO lens with Nikon Fmount that you could have for $200. It's like new, used a few times, then upgraded to FX.
PM me if interested.
I would take the MPR with vertical clamp if available. Now, I just have to remember how to PM.
Hope some smart person out there can help. My MANUAL IRIX 15mm f2.4 has a special infinity focus stop (click) and it works great on Nikon D750 for night sky pinpoint stars. However, when I switch that lens with the same settings to Nikon D850, the photo is blurry. I've run the test several times with the same results.
I'm thinking it must be some setting on the D850 that needs to be changed. The D850 is set to Manual mode.
Any thoughts out there among the mentally gifted?
Thanks,
Brien
I have the Nikon D850 and it copies slides as well as converts color and B&W negative to fine JPEGs using the Es-2 attachment with my 60mm Nikon macro lens. Works well. It may be the only Nikon to do the negative conversion.
I bought an XQD card when I bought the Nikon D850 almost 3 years ago. It's very fast, reliable, and, more expensive than SD cards. Totally worth the price IMHO.
Steve Perry's Nikon Autofocus e-book is by far the best I've read. He clearly explains each item complete with clear images. It is a great reference. I'm constantly referring back to it.
He is a straight shooter and tells you if something doesn't work as well as Nikon claims.
I'm ridden over 100,000 miles on a BMW over the years, mostly with 2 Nikon cameras. I had a large tank bag that worked great (just had to unbuckle to fill up with gas). The bag freed up my saddle bags.
Just look at Amazon for motorcycle tank bags. They really make a difference on long trips.
I'm envious. Have a great trip.
I have had the Sigma 14-24 2.8 since it first came out. You will love it for the night sky. Good luck.
I forgot to say Irix 15mm f2.4 is a manual focus lens with a separate click stop at infinity. Very helpful for night skies. Also has a rare hyperfocal scale at f8,11, and 16. Plus it has a hard focus lock. Great little lens. It does take awhile to get used to only manual focus.
Irix 15mm f2.4 is a great reasonably priced night sky lens ($465-$645, 2 models, same lens). National Parks at Night(NPAN) guys highly recommend this lens, especially for starter night sky photography.
A couple of shots with the lens on Monhegan Island, Maine
I would do a lot of research, lots of restrictions. I went in Dec 2018. Great trip. The real Cuba. No fancy hotels. Stay in Cuban homes, local Cuba food, 1950s cars and drivers.
They are legal and get the Cuban visa for you:

Good Luck
