My Z6 is smaller, lighter; I just returned from a couple of weeks across the pond, and my observation is that cell phone cameras have even widened the gulf between them and us. I was on a tour in Messina: 40 cell phones and 2 cameras.

But my loyalty to Nikon continues unabated!

I LOVE ALL CAMERAS, I just love buying cameras, playing with them for a while - and then I sell them if needed. It's ok,.... they don't eat, they don't ever need to go to the veterinarian, they don't poop on the carpet, and they don't require a babysitter. So let yourself buy a new camera!!! Who cares

Well said…lots of wisdom in your post!

24-105 would be my choice. Good luck!

I am a rank amateur, but I liked #5…the elongation in your shadow draws the eye into the shot.

I had a lot of Nikon lens over the years, but when I went to the Z series, I got rid of all of my lenses except the 24-70 f/2.8 (using adapter). I kept it until I could get the Z model.(f/4)...but then the travel stopped and I have not pulled the trigger. Now with the 24-200 getting favorable reviews, don't know what I will do...except that until I can get back to traveling, may sit on the sidelines.

I lost one a few years back and was able to order for a few bucks ($8.99 Amazon prime) and easy to install.

Since then I’ve double checked latching and haven’t lost another.

I have been very satisfied with Nikon refurbs. Your loss had nothing to do with camera being refurb.

Same here...Amazon for my old D700; inexpensive & could repair myself...simple process.

I always use a lens hood; last summer my wife & I were in Paris with our adult daughters; I took a faceplant after tripping over a sidewalk hazard. I had my phone in one hand and my D750 / 24-70 f/2.8 in the other. My nose was busted, my face scratched and my lens hood was cracked, but the camera/lens suffered not even a scratch. "Wouldn't leave home without it!"

Nicely done; I fear that my woodworking skills would not produce such a nice gift!

At those prices, I probably would opt for my current Z6 & add a 24-200 lens...I am still using my already-owned Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 with the adapter, but that is too heavy at my age.

I have a Z6 with a FTZ adapter and a 24-70 f2.8 that I kept from my DLSR days, While I like the quality of the shots, the weight causes me to reconsider purchasing the f/4 model. Don't know if my "hobby" needs a $2300 lens....plus, since we can't travel (foreign), I am not as quick to pull the trigger on another expense. Maybe later...
