Some years ago after a scandal about some press photos (taken on film I think) being cropped before publication in order to evoke sympathy or further a point of view or agenda one major news outlet or press agency banned the use of telephoto lenses by its staff and any alteration of the original photo so that all context and background could be seen. The negatives when reviewed showed additional detail and context not evident in the published photo. With all press photos these days being taken with digital there is no negative on which to fall back. Negatives are difficult to alter. Who or what do we trust?

Looking for a word processor that allows saving documents on my device but that does not force cloud storage. I am under the impression that Google Docs and Microsoft Office force cloud storage. Both are available for my device but I do not want be forced to save documents I create to the cloud. Does anyone know if they allow for "local" saving of documents on a device without saving to cloud? Can anyone suggest an Android word processor that saves documents on device without setting up a cloud account? Thanks, YNY.

I watched this on Amazon Prime last night. "The Vast of Night" is presented as a 1950s TV show, like The Twilight Zone. It's set in the 1950s in a small, friendly town in New Mexico. It's a rather calm and homey movie, and it proceeds at a slow pace, but it's fun to watch. It's a show I'd like to see on a continuing basis.

Saw it. Loved it.

In searching for cameras, camera bodies, and lens I have seen items stated as “international model”. Can anyone tell me what and why the differentiations in products?

International model is grey market. It is not imported by the official USA importer. It does not have a USA valid warranty. Typically the official USA importer assumes the cost of repairs under the warranty for which you pay a higher initial purchase price. If the product is Nikon, Nikon USA will not touch it or repair it even for a fee. Official USA importers of other brands might honor the international warranty for their brand but charge you a fee for any work done. In some instances you might have to send the item back to the country of manufacture for the warranty to be honored. Check with the brand's official USA importer for their policy. Some vendors offer a store warranty which may be limited. You did not mention what store you were thinking of buying from. Google the store's reputation or ask others on UHH about it. Some stores offer items with either International warranty or a USA warranty (but at a higher price). Others here may have more information. Also, grey market items may not include all the components present in an official USA import and the manuals etc. may be in a language other than English. Search UHH for grey market. Items bought outside the USA will not have a USA warranty. Others on UHH please correct me if I am wrong.

Portions of the mine car chase sequence in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom were filmed using a modified Nikon F3.

Remember when they used to sell "gun stocks" for telephoto shooting?

Does anyone remember the movie How to Kill Your Wife with Jack Lemon and his butler/assistant Terry Thomas? Jack has an action/adventure comic strip and acts out the scenes he wants to draw. His assistant follows him around New York shooting photos from which to create the drawings. The camera is on a gun stock. Very funny movie.

The first (square format) photo. I like the image of solitary person in the small window of the large light house. I think it emphasizes the solitariness of the person against the bulk of the lighthouse.

So what are people using? I’m looking for a cloud-based option that would allow me to share photos with family and friends. I’m primarily a Lightroom user, if that matters.

What do you recommend? I’ve used Flickr in the past — are there better options now?

I like and use SmugMug.

Nikon supposedly released a left handed Nikon in March or April 2019. I do not know if this true or an April Fools Day prank. You can see it here. I do not know what model it is supposed to be.

Is that a complete listing of its shows?

I am not sure if you are seeing all of them.
If you scroll down there are topic bars with titles (mystery, drama, etc.). Click on "view all" underneath the title. You will see all programs tagged with the that topic title. Clicking on a program will then show you available series and episodes for that selection. For example if under "comedy" you click "view all" and then click on "Agatha Raisin" you will find the available series and episodes. Some shows may be listed in more than one category.

We also enjoy BritBox which is a BBC site at https://www.britbox.co.uk/
Navigating the site is a little bit different from Acorn but the are also many programs. There is little bit of overlap between them. A selection on BritBox however usually has different episodes from Acorn and vice versa.

We watch both. Hope this helps. YNY.

Silly question but one that has been bugging me. I understand the Sunny 16 guideline (Example: For bright sun and ISO 100 use f16 at 1/100 second). How does this apply to using a long lens (300mm for example) where the recommended minimum shutter speed would be 1/300 second or faster? Does one compensate with a larger aperture? Use a faster ISO? No need to compensate? What am I not seeing? I have searched for an answer without luck. Thank you.

Ingenuity: A modified Nikon F3 with a motor drive and special back for 35mm movie film was used to film some of the chase sequence in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. It was mounted on a scaled down mining car run on a special track.
