The Samsung S23 Ultra is really a wonder sometimes. I saw this hawk flying close to my house and was without a camera to capture it. But as I was walking I brought my phone. I then zoomed all the way and with some difficulty (it is not easy following a bird with a phone and screen, Although it kept flying away as I got near, the hawk settled down for a bit and I was finally able to capture it.

I've posted pictures before of this place, and decided to add some more recent photos and test the new OM Systems OM-5 and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm F4-5.6 II, The pair is weather sealed.
The OM-5 predecessors were always a joy to shoot with and the trend continues positively.
If you want to see more pictures and the video, go to https://youtu.be/fkSlADixYx8.
Enjoy!

All photos captured with the Canon EOS R-8. Lens were the Canon RF 800mm F11 & Canon RF 100-400mm F5-6.8.
Although pictures were taken 3 days apart, it might be the same egret.
Enjoy!

Every photo you take should tell a story.
This set is about a small bird stuck in my backyard.
Let me explain.
Our backyard is a swimming pool enclosed by a set of screens kept together by a set of connecting metal bars.
So, birds can't get inside the enclosure.
However, we were having the roof renovated, so we had to open one of the screens so the workers could replace the roof in the back.
Without our knowledge, some small birds got inside and were trapped, they didn't remember they got in and started to fly left and right trying to get back into the world.
A couple of birds got stuck during the renovations my wife and I made them fly "in the right direction" and the birds could fly away.
So, these photos show one of these days when a bird got stuck in my backyard.

Enjoy!

Poor bird, a little stressed out, it looks to the outside for relief

It looked angrily at me, "Set me free!"

It tried to fly away many times, eventually my wife and I showed him the way out

I love taking pictures of the Moon! Every once in a while I get out at night and see if the Moon is "photogenic". And I also like to take more than one camera and lens.
Last night I brought 2 cameras:
- The Olympus OM-D E-M1X and the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm f/5-6.3 IS (Micro Four-Thirds)
- Canon R8 with Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM Lens (Full-Frame)
I'll leave it up to you which one takes the cake!
Enjoy!

I really do like image, even with the slight softness. Is that primarily a product of the shallow DOF on everything except the Olds?

yes I shot mostly at F1.7 but I switched to F11 for a time.
Keep in mind this is an old lens and it probably needs cleaning, etc.

I spent about 2 days in Miami Beach and captured some pictures with a Leica M9 (I love this camera, an 18MB FF with the best picture click sound, it feels like you're taking pictures with one of the M's film cameras) and a vintage Summarit 50 mm F1.5.
The lens has a lot of character (a sliver of focus at 1.5), flare in the sun, and some weird reddish stains that appear randomly, and it is not the sharpest.
I know it sounds negative in most aspects, but the images it produces are lovely, the vivid colors, exquisite transition from out of focus to focus, and vice-versa.
The other challenge is of course the rangefinder manual focusing of the M9, but I've used the Leica's for years and it is quite second nature now.
Enjoy!

The Sheridan Preserve is an area of preservation of the Florida fauna and vegetation. It is not very big, but very quiet and very few people visit it. It is just 10 min from my house so I go there every once in a while.
Here are some pictures taken with the Panasonic Lumix S5 Mark II and the Lumix S 70-200mm, F4.
Enjoy!

Nice moon shot.

How do you like the lens? I'm thinking about getting one for my A6500.

Fantastic, it is heavy but does not require a tripod.
Go for it!
