Please consider the HP 4155. Only $99 and does everything but milk the cow, and well.

Mmmm. Were not now-currently well-accepted processing programs at one time "the next best thing?" Just wondering.

[quote=Wallen]These are mundane and so-so photos...

...until we find out that they are not really what they are.

Fake? Magic? Art?

Good grief people. Can't we have fun with photography? I have done this numerous times with a neighbor who spends the winter in Arizona. I put him in odd places and write a story to go with the picture. We both look forward to them, as do others to whom he shows them. The inane question -- Fake? Magic? Art? -- is posed and grown men and women take the time to turn it into a discussion akin to what is the meaning of life. It is FUN.

On the other hand . . . it is about 60 feet from the curb to my front door. A recent FedEx delivery was dropped on the sidewalk roughly at the halfway point.

Looking for a camera for my wife who is an occasional picture taker, wants something affordable, easy to use, self-contained, takes a decent picture, isn't too big/heavy and doesn't require a bunch of extra attachments/lenses/gear to carry. I've heard that the Canon SX50 HS fits her needs. From those of you who own one, is that true? Does anyone have one that is in good working order, that they aren't using much and might want to sell? If so, please PM and let me know.
Thanks,

I had an SX40 and wish I still had it. It was (is) great for all the reasons you mention. (I succumbed to the lure of a DSLR.) I hesitate to enter the realm of rumor, but when the SX50 came out I recall there were numerous remarks made in forums that it was not up to the standards of the SX40. Then came the SX60 and SX70. On the basis of those forum remarks I would suggest you pass on the SX50 and pick up an SX40, or go directly to the SX70. But before doing either, I would hope you would gather more views on the SX50.

Just now received box of on-ice meals from Freshly. Fed Ex dumped it on porch without ringing bell. Had I not been in my office beside the porch I would have not heard the THUMP. I was expecting the delivery and was keeping an eye out, but delivery guy did not know that.

Our sixth grade class made a field trip to Brookfield Zoo in 1939. I had a camera about and inch and a half square that strapped on to my wrist. Nothing remains of camera or pictures, but I know this: your pictures are better than mine were.

You took the letters right out of my mouth. We could also say "photo," but that sounds too amateurish.

Why do you think "photo" is amateurish? Aren't we all "photo-graphers" in a "photo-graphy" forum?

Saturday I took some portraits with my new camera on autofocus. The first few came out great. Then I moved the tripod to a different location to get a different background. Those came out with beautiful color, but the background was sharp, not the subject. What happened? Any ideas?

Focus on what it is you are taking a picture of. You should know more about that than your camera. Forget Auto Focus.
