As a follow up to the previous topic I raised last week:

I bought a new Western Digital My Passport Ultra 4 TB external hard drive (EHD) based on the excellent advice received from you'all. My photos had been "backed up" to an old 3 TB external hard drive in a very complicated fashion so I decided to delete all my files last night from the 3 TB EHD, and successfully did a Full Backup of my laptop's hard drive to that now "clean" old 3TB external hard drive. I then used Photoshop Elements' Organizer to "Restore" my photos from the 3 TB EHD to the newly purchased 4 TB hard drive. Amazingly, it seems to have worked.

I would now like to make room on my laptop's hard drive by deleting most of the photos on that drive permanently. From what file or program do I delete these thousands of photos?

I also have Amazon Photos, which automatically backs up all my laptop's photos to the Cloud.

I read somewhere that if I delete laptop hard drive photos, the same photos backed up to Amazon photos might also get deleted. Is that true? Is there a backup tool on my Windows 10 laptop that has to be set in a particular manner to be consistent with what I would like to do (which includes keeping all my photos in Amazon's Cloud?)

Thanks so much for any help you can render. Because I am not the best at technical matters, the most detailed advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Best regards,

Michael S.

Thanks to everyone for their detailed suggestions. I wound up contacting Adobe and as a result am purchasing another a (4 TB) backup drive. I will then use “back up and restore” on Photoshop Element’s Organizer to restore my photos to that new backup drive. Thanks again.

I have thousands and thousands of photos on my laptop computer's disk (a PC) and I am running out of disk space.
I have backed up my photos to a Western Digital external hard drive, but have no idea how to keep the structure – albums, tags, facial recognition, etc. intact- that I created using Photoshop Elements 2020.

The external hard drive contains .json files, .xmp files and I think I know what those are. I would like to use Elements to edit photos, but keep the bulk of my photos on the external hard drive allowing me to delete them from my laptop's hard drive. In other words, I want to use Photoshop Elements, but have access to the thousands of photos now stored on the external hard drive and be able to delete the photos on my laptop's hard drive, so I have disk space on my laptop.

Exactly, how do I do this? Thanks so much for any help given.

Thank you.

I wanted to tell all the people that were so helpful to me about the happy ending of my quest for the proper adapter for the Super Lentar lens.

It appears that the amount was a petri bayonet mount.

I went to the Chicago loop and stopped in to Central Camera-one of the last old fashioned “do everything“ Camera stores in Chicago and showed them the lens

An older gentleman told me that there was a screw - on mount that would come off. His assistant unscrewed it and revealed a T mount. Luckily I had in my possession a T2 to NEX mount I purchased from K & F Concepts and was frustratingly trying to return.

I was also waiting to hear back from an eBay seller of the petri bayonet mount who was difficult to get to respond to my emails.

The long and the short of it was that I don’t have to return my T2 adapter and I no longer have to deal with the eBay seller to buy the Petri bayonet mount and all ended well.

The part that unscrewed from the lens only had the markings “TA9” and “Japan

Thanks very much for everyone’s help. Dadorphan

Amfoto1,

Thank you very much for looking up the adapter. That was extremely nice of you.

Could you please confirm that you independently recognized the mount as a Petri bayonet mount. Another UH‘er thought it might be, but wasn’t sure.

Thanks again.

RWR,

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond.

What type of Petri mount do you believe my lens has?

Breach lock or bayonet?

Thanks.

Twowindsbear,

Thanks again for the follow up email. I have done extensive Google and eBay research and some of the “hits“ say it is an m42 mount and others a T2 mount. I purchased both, but neither fit. I looked at a photo of my lens and it looks the same, so I don’t think there is anything to remove from my lens to find another mount.

I sent the same two pictures to K&F-the makers of the two adapters I tried - and hopefully will here back soon.

Thanks again.

Twowindsbear,

Thank you for your response. I believe you are correct, but neither the K&F adapter for an M42 or T2 mount has an “opening” large enough to accommodate the flanges on the Super Lentar lens.

I bought a Super Lentar f 3.5 35mm lens at a thrift shop for five dollars to fit on my Sony a 6000. I have had very good luck using K & F Concept adapters. I contacted them and they told me I needed an M42 to Nex adapter which I bought and which did not fit. My own research was that the correct adapter was a T2 to Nex adapter, which I bought, received today, and which also does not fit. The problem appears to be that the adapters and the lens both have threads on the inside of each item.

Does anyone know what the proper adapter would be or whether there is another fitting that could connect the two inside threads and still allow me to use the a6000 manually. I am attaching a photo of the T2 adapter and the Super Lentar lens ( please ignore second picture of lens attached by mistake).

Thank you in advance.

Thank you all for the recommendations. The Minolta 100mm f 2.8 appears to be a great lens. I need a little bit of clarification on the adapters. Do third party adapter companies make less expensive adapters that can do the same thing as the Sony brand adapters? If so what are your specific recommendations for brands so I could use the Minolta in manual and for AF?

Thanks again.

Greetings.

I have a Sony a 6000 and have been using a Sony 30 mm macro lens. Because the lens requires that I practically touch the subject of the photo, I am unable to photograph insects.

I have heard a lot of good things about the Tokina 100 mm F2 .8 lens both as a macro lens and for other uses and would like to find an adapter to use the Tokina on my Sony a 6000.

I would imagine that I can only use it manually, although I understand that there are quite expensive adapters that would have automatic focus. From reviews, however, it doesn’t seem as if they have perfected those. Any help or suggestions of the type and brand of adapter would be welcome. Thank you very much

Greetings. I am new to UHH and apologize if Viking River cruises have already been covered as a topic.

I am going on a 10 day river cruise in Portugal. I have a Sony a 6000 that came with a 16 - 50 kit lens. I also have a Sony 35 mm F1 .8 prime lens and a Sony 55-210 mm telephoto lens. I would like the community's advice on what lens or lenses I should bring on my trip and would also like a recommendation for a reasonably priced camera strap to replace the kit strap that came with my camera. Thank you very much.
