I have 2 canon 4 wasabi. I see no difference except I cannot charge the Wasabi in the battery grip. That is not a problem. My Canons actually are down in shot life over the Wasabi although I still get more shots that I typically take in a day with either the canons or the Wasabis.

I have used a number of "methods" to get photos into my file system and off my camera card. This year I began using Adobe Bridge (part of the Adobe Photography Subscription @ the cost of a supersized burger meal per month). In the Get media dialog, it will do basically 5 things for me:

1) Copy photographs to a designated location ( on my desktop, I store originals on a 10TB external)
2) rename those photos (Barbie and Kens wedding - xxxx)
3) write the original file name in the exif information
4) copy the file to a second location ( I use the µsoft cloud as I know there are at least 3-4 images of my files in 3-4 locations around the world!)
5) when the above four are complete, it politely requests permission to delete from the SDXC Card

FTR; my photos are stored by year; by month; by date and edited photos are restored in a monthly playground folder

In 1967, I reported to the laboratory at my new job, and had access to an adding machine with 12 columns with 10 digits per column - all mechanical electrical. 5 years later, when the price dropped from $180 down to $120, I bought my own calculator - for $120, it would add, subtract, multiply and divide and would display 8 digits. In January 2021, I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S21 with more computing power than we sent to the moon or out of this solar system.

I have a subscription to Adobe Photography and one to µsoft 365, and I am happy with both subscriptions. I also have subscriptions to YouTube, the Blaze, and Amazon, Oh and I pay the power company, phone company, and TV/Internet supplier monthly

What is right? are you interested in the actual Number of photons +/- 2% over the entire range, or are you interested in being able to use the phone to set your camera and flash?

Set up a white board under controllable lighting and measure the light with your camera and then with the phone app. If they come up with the same ISO/Shutter/Aperture over the range you intend to use the camera, then yes they are reliable. If you don't get the same values at all points, then plot meter value vs camera value and use that to correct what you see.

It's my old bugaboo, but verticals need to be vertical. The lighthouse and its flagpole appear ready to fall over.

Rich, Thank you. This is an interesting comment. One of the advantages of us lake huggers compared to land lubbers is we always have a precise horizon, and you are right if the horizon is off by a couple degrees, you see it, and it bothers you about the photo. If I don't have a waterbody horizon, I always base my image on the strongest and most central vertical line (knowing that sailboat masts are never vertical).

On this image, with a flat level lake, and no lens distortion (Sigma 150-600@600 adjusted and in Camera Raw), the light house is not vertical, straight or even parallel. I could spend some time and alter the perspective on the lighthouse to get rid of the trapezoids, and square all the verticals, but should I? It is interesting to note that the middle horizontal line of the pier is synonymous with the top of the lake, and if I rotate to straighten the flag pole, the remainder of the picture goes out of kilter. Some of the out of Kilter you are seeing may be perception as well, in this image, I overlaid perfectly vertical and horizontal lines.

In my area, we have a lot of barns that were old before I was born (44), and few, if any of those barns are rectangles - some are parallelograms, while some are trapezoids - I aim to achieve the least offensive viewpoint achievable, often leveling on the bottom chord of the roof.

I would be interested in what you would do.

Canon Cameras are designed to make your life as a photographer easier. That includes professional fashion photographers, world-wide landscape and wildlife photographers, and dad taking pictures of his very own future pitcher for the Yankees. Many people take pictures and rout those pictures directly to a printer, or send them from camera to Instagram; for those photographers they want a specific format for their photos. There are others - purists - that never never crop any image - they must either set the aspect ratio in camera or be stuck with a 2X3 ratio for every picture they take.

I use the full width and height of the frame and that gives me more options in post. I regard the use of a camera to collect images to be a technical function, thus all the camera settings are located under my right hand (Left Brain). I consider Photography to be an art form, thus on old lenses focus, aperture, and zoom are in the left hand(right brain). I always collect raw data from the camera (best data from a technical standpoint, and take it into Photoshop to create a photograph from an image. Part of that is looking at the photograph and choosing the proper aspect ratio for that Photo. Often, I will safe a photograph in more than one aspect ratio.

I have never set aspect ratio in camera.

Went up to Holland to document the Cuyahoga entering port today, and had to wait over three hours for her to show. Even the sun was home before the Cuyahoga.

I keep a few lens cloths (from eyeglass purchases) and if I need to clean a lens or filter, I roll up the cloth and use the pinked edge to lightly remove dust or use it small circular motions going through the center of the lens to clean the lens. Periodically, I clean the cloths with warm water and a couple drops of Dawn (no substitutes) in a ziploc bag. Rinse with water and air dry.

There are no Black and White photographs; only 256; 16,384; or 268,435,456 shades of gray. You did not specify what type of photography you are into, how you process, how you display, and how much you intend to charge for each of your photographs. If you are married, you should spend $2500 for camera and lenses and $7000 for new carpet; If you're not married, what does it matter - buy the best technology you can comprehend and the finest pieces of glass to go with it. Break the bank - who cares?

As for me, my printing is done on Kodak 8X10 photo paper using a Pixma 9000 series, so an Under 2K EOS R with EF Glass suffices for me.

In today's world, it is still true that no amount of technology can overcome bad glass; however, it is equally true that bad technology will take high quality glass to mediocre. Sufficient Technology will make moderate glass glisten. An R5 with a RF 70-200 f:2.8 with a 1:4EX will cover a lot of life for under the $7000 number.

Just one question... Why so high a ISO?

IF ISO, Shutter speed and aperture number are three sides of a triangle, isn't you question akin to "Why so high a shutter speed?" or "Why such a small aperture?

I would propose the answer to all three would be: "Well, because."

Shutter speed controls motion
Aperture controls Depth of Field
ISO controls feel

I am going to say #1 Above $5000, your getting into 50MP sensor,7-8 stops of OS+IBIS or shooting ISO 100 at 1/8000 seconds with a 1000mm lens plus you get TOL Animal Eye Focus Tracking. Add in a long lens at $2500

With the 50MP sensor, you can 50% crop to gain more lens length equiv. (a Sigma Sport 150 - 600 will easily reach to 1000 - 1200mm.

Manual focus leave it on, Tripod (always) turn it off. OS and IBIS will add motion when perfectly still and result in a loss of sharpness.
