I use the Lexar 1000x in both my Olympus EM 1 Mark II and Mark III and it does what I need for wildlife and landscape.

I have the EM 1 Mark II and the EM 1 Mark III and shoot wildlife with the P/L 100-400 and the Oly 300mm f/4 and I am very happy the results and battery life with Oly batteries is into the hundreds of shoots. You can look at results here, www.facebook.com/RayReederPhotography

I'm just getting started with GIMP v2.10. Can I use it to focus stack JPGs? Or do I need another program after I do initial post-processing in GIMP?

Hello. I am an experienced photographer who is looking to go from cropped to full frame. My photography experience starts with an Argus C-3, Retina 2c and progressed through to my Sony NEX-6. As you can tell I have always used entry level equipment. Mainly for budget reasons.

My photography consists of travel, family, and occasional BIF. I have basic lenses. A nifty fifty (Canon 1.8), Sony 18-55, Tamron 16-85 and 70-300. None of these are particularly high quality but they are ok. willing to trade them all in for an 18-135.

I am looking to transition to full frame. Please don't question me on why. My problem is budget. I want to stay within $15-1700. I know that is kind of tough. I am willing to buy pre owned if it is excellent, but want to stay with less than 5 year old models.

I have been monitoring this forum for years only posted once. I greatly respect the quality of information that sometimes comes out. Any specific help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance..

Check MPB and KEH, they are both reputable stores that deal in good used equipment. I would look at mirrorless models to stay current. Nikon Z6 or maybe Z7 will fit your budget.

Micro 4/3 will do fine for wildlife I have the Olympus EM 1 Mark II and Mark III and both are excellent cameras. I shoot mostly with the Panasonic/Leica 100-400 but I also have the Olympus 300 f/4 pro. You can see some examples of these camera and lens combos at www.facebook.com/RayReederPhotography

Olympus EM 1 Mark II, micro 4/3 and the Panasonic 100-400 tele for your first lens. The Micro 4/3 eqvilelent of the 100/400 is 200/800 field of view and that lens is only about 10 inches long. You can check out some of my bird photos with that lens here.www.facebook.com/RayReederPhotography

I just had a slice with my morning coffee. I buy several of these each year at this time to give as gifts.

in eastern KY, a lot of folks have concealed carry permits and now we don't even need those, I wouldn't think about going out to shoot wild life without my "protection".

My niece in Arizona got a new computer (a PC), and her old editing program won’t run on it. I have a Mac, so I am not much help. She does casual editing, so she’s not needing a heavy-duty program. What she needs is a good program that is not too complicated and not too expensive. Family shots, get-togethers, and vacation photos are what she mostly shoots. She has a Canon SL2 and a decent zoom lens that she uses. Any suggestions that I can give her?

Before it is suggested by someone, she does not want a LR subscription.

Smart Photo Editor in my opinion gives you the most bang for your bucks, they have a free trial and the program is around $30.00

Not sure but it sounds like you are running windoze! Never have to run additional (Ruff) programs to find out about software installs. If I don't install it, it doesn't get installed. Once you go mac, you never go back.

I've been a Linux user for more than 25 years and don't run into those kinds of problems either.

I think it's brain washing, we have been told all our lives that FF is bigger and better and you can't get good quality photos without it. I have a Nikon Z6 and an Olympus EM1 Mark II, and the EM1 is my go to camera for wildlife and landscape and it's a joy to shoot and I haven't had anyone yet that could tell the difference.
