My wife and I have two rescues at home. It has been fascinating, watching their personalities develop over the past several years. Our little girl has taken five years of the six that she’s been with us to blossom and learn to play and fetch. She is still suspicious when we offer her a treat. Our little boy has been with us for nearly 4 years and only recently has become super affectionate.
Since both dogs were at least a year old when we got them, there is no way to know what they experienced as puppies. We get great pleasure giving them the love they deserve and watching them respond.

If your new acquaintance is dissatisfied with her PC, and is convinced she should move over to a Mac (as I did and never turned back) she will quickly discover that prices on new machines are pretty much fixed. She can save a few dollars by purchasing refurbished directly from Apple.
I won’t bother debating what I feel are the advantages of using the Mac, and I am unaware whether PCs have eliminated the problems that I hated some 29 years ago. I will say that Apple keeps the machines updated at no cost, and that in my area of the country there’s no problem finding service if needed… which has yet to be the case.

In as much as cameras and human eyes don't see things the same way - I don't quite see why you worry about presenting an image "just as your camera saw it"

Shouldn’t the default be just as your “eye saw it” ?
Either you want to re-create reality as you perceive it or create some sort of a fantasy. But why would you allow the camera to make the decision for you?

Generally colors of a logo would be specified with Pantone numbers.

Thank you for the clarification. I hope my other, major, contentions are correct.

I have no doubt that the color produced in the final file is different from one piece of software to another; but I would argue that the colors are very close to each other, that the computer and color corrected screen adds a second variable, that the printer and technician involved is a third variable, and finally the human eye perceives color differently for different humans.
If I were trying to reproduce a copyrighted logo, for example Coca Cola red, for advertising purposes, I realize that precise color replication is crucial. Otherwise, realistically, the software used is not going to make a whole lot of difference; or at least, I have been satisfied, using Photoshop rather than Nikons proprietary product.

I have used Photoshop/Lightroom for years, finally feel comfortable with its methods of post processing and creating “art”; but I am always open to something that could possibly be even better. I downloaded and installed On1 Effects and find it interesting if not, earth shattering. As expected, its system of applying adjustments to images and layers woulf require that I have a bit of a learning curve.
My greatest disappointment, perhaps one of you can answer for me, is that the advertised capability to open PSD files along with their layers does not seem possible- - - at least not on my Mac mini with the silicone chip. The file is recognized, but is flattened into a single visible layer. This would not be a dealbreaker; but I assume I would have to give up being able to ever play with my old PSD files if I ever dropped Adobe.

[quote=Bmarsh]Another Lib waiting to be offended.[/

The comments have been opinionated, but this one is close minded.
Why would you presume the poster’s politics with his one word response?
Several possibilities:
1. The poster feared the conversation would be dominated by narrow-minded people and would become vitriolic.
2. The poster was concerned that some people with strong religious convictions would be offended by the quote.
3. The poster sincerely felt that the attic was the more appropriate place for the possibility of a debate about belief, theory, and facts.

Those who cannot juggle nuance, should be very careful before expressing their dogma.

And I still don’t understand your comment, especially with the three exclamation points.

Since the very first comment was “Attic”, where the insane and uncivil reside, I thought the level of discussion would rapidly disintegrate. Not yet!
And I still do not know what the statement “really” implies, especially followed by multiple exclamation points.

Signing in only so I can follow the evolution of the comments to see how long they remain sane and civil.😉

What has happened to “buyer beware? If someone advertised a sale on the “Broklyn Bridge” would the first thought be “it’s spelled wrong, I’ll look into it” or this is obviously a scam and I will just throw it away.

One side of the coin has been well delineated. That is, the people who feel it is necessary to denigrate someone else’s efforts. And for me, that is indefensible.
But what about the Pollyannas out there who feel it necessary to gush over the quality of a clearly mediocre snapshot? I realize that some of this is subjective; but if there are no standards for excellence, then there is no room for improvement. It would be best if those who are tempted to find fault would simply keep their mouth shut, and those who feel it necessary to praise everything they see to do the same.

I do not understand why you would be having a problem with software designed to work with an earlier version of PS than the one you are using. I have never seen a plug-in or App that is not backward compatible.
