I'm a big fan of using UV filters on all of my lens to protect them for getting scratched or damaged, especially when I'm outdoors.

Can any recommend a good UV filter that doesn't aid in lens flare? Especially when shooting outdoors. It's such a pain, typically I would just try to remove it from the photo, but sometimes that is just a headache.

Thank you!

I actually bought a refurb d7000 from adorama, for the same reason it would save me a few buck (it was on a sale I wind up saving at least $400) and I don't have any regrets, or issues with the camera, besides minor ones due to me not knowing how to set up something.

I do remember when I was looking around though is that through B&H and I think adorama offers this too, you can get a protection plan on it, for an additional cost, but not too heft, It's through square trade, i have warranties for other products through this company and have never had an issue turn around time are fast for them. So you can always add that on for extra piece of mind.

As for the condition when I got it, it came packaged like a brand new camera except in a nikon USA factory refurb box, but everything was there that is typically included with a new camera.

Yeah, mine was refurbished by nikon and just sold through Adorama it came with the papers from the factory and everything, the price was $750 so I decided to go with it, especially since the camera has been around and has great reviews.

I'm gonna give it a chance and see if is indeed user error and try the suggestions I was given and if nothing else works I will be returning it, if I do decide to return maybe i'll hold out and spend the extra money on the 7100, but I like to purchase things after hearing about how it works from users.

Thank you!

I'll read through it and give it a shot, hoping that the camera isn't a dud.

Yes, I did try to take a photo in auto with the flash disabled and enabled and it actually overexposes the picture.

As for the ISO I typically keep it around 400 sometimes lower to eliminate noise from being too apparent in photos, changing that does not seem to help it either. Right now I have my shutter speed set to the factory default of the rear command control and I find that when I typically would to use that to adjust my exposure the internal light meter that you see in the view finder does even budge.

Because it is a camera that is new to me I am reading the manual, and learning the control layout of my camera. So thank you for the suggestion.

What I should mention too that I have tried to restore the camera to the factory defaults and this too does not work either.

About 2 weeks ago this camera (Nikon d7000) refurbished from Adorama, and haven't really had the chance to really actually take it out and start working with it. I Finally took it out this weekend and seem to be having issues with it, something just doesn't seem right with how it's measuring light and exposure on it, no matter if change the ISO, aperture, ect... it does not seem like the light meter is responding as it should. Typically when you would rotate the shutter speed dial to over expose the picture it would be completely white it out, however it still comes out black as if it has been underexposed. Since the camera is new to me, I can't really judge if it's user error or if its defective, could someone help me out on this issue so I can return it ASAP, if it's defective??

I typically purchase warranties for all my photography equipment but I usually wait until the end of the return date to make sure I'm not going to return the product. I don't want to purchase the protection plan just to return it, because transferring them is a pain.

Thank you!

I actually just purchases a refurbished d7000 body from adorama (you can get them now for tax season for $750). I did use (and still own the 3100).

I haven't had the camera long enough (maybe about a week now) to comment on picture quality but I do agree it depends on the person behind it. However though, the features and what you can actually do with this camera to help aid in doing better photos is great. I've been reading up and researching reviews on the camera for a few months now.

I plan on taking it out this weekend to get to know the camera and button placement, features, ect......so i'll be sure to repost with my experience!

Thank you! I will try this. I always forget to check that setting, but i'm still learning. I've done black and white film from the start so digital is a little bit of a different world for me. I have a bit to learn yet.

Currently my camera is set to 3200. I actually forgot about changing that setting. Is there a suggested ISO I should try?

Thank you!

I'm in need of some help trying to solve an issue that i'm having with my photos.

Typically I would shoot in RAW and have never had an issue with it before. Lately however, even have post production and processing the picture through light room like I typically would I have noticed a bit of a grain in my pictures. Most people never notice it but every once in a while I get one that is so bad that everyone can see it.

I've tried switching my format to shooting in JPEG (which I feel very limited) and the grain still has not gone away, and actually seems like It has gotten worse.

Could this possibly be a problem withe the camera itself? If it helps the camera I've been using is the NIKON D3100. I do have to say that as I've owned this camera I've noticed that there as been a decline in functionality with this camera.

Thank you!

Since we are on the topic of elements 11, I was wondering do you need the min photoshop program to run elements or can it be added to light room.

I currently use light room 4, and love it and have heard great things about elements as well.

At a recent trip to staples I was hoping they could clarify this, the sales rep told me that I needed full photoshop, then proceeded to try and sell that to me. I'm not sure if I was told this strictly because its his job to sell me up onto the more pricey software or if it indeed true.

I have actually just made the switch from PC to a MAC, and I can tell you it's been a relief, my work flow is more steady, even and organized, not to mention that I can now run more programs together (light room & photoshop) at the same time due to the Quad core processor I have now compared to the dual core I used to have.

The computer just handle so much better and smoothly when it comes to editing, no more waiting for anything to load. I've fond since i've made the switch the two above programs work more smoothly and load up time is a fraction of my PC.

The computer I went with is the Imac 21 inch, however I chose to stay with the older one because of the ability to upgrade, the memory on the MAC that I chose is upgradable to 16gigs which should last me a while. The older Mac (2011-2012) also has the built in cd drive, so you don't have to by the external one as you would for the new mac. My cd drive is important because I use this to burn DVD discs of pictures for clients.

The only downfall is that I had external hard drives from my pc that just happened to be a brand that does not work with a MAC, these have tons of pictures on them that i'm having a difficult time to my MAC without using Migration Assistant (which can take a long time when you have large amounts of files). However this is a minor issue for me and I have a friend of mine that can transfer these files to the new external hard drive once I get it.

I have a D3100 while I love the camera the add on options such as lens, flash, and other things aren't great for it, they are very specific and very costly. What they don't tell you is that with the D3100 and from my understanding the D5100 too you have to have AF-S lens for them. You can use AF lenses but you have no use of auto focus, motor zoom and other various in camera settings.

Because of this finding used lens or lenses at a great price is hard and if you purhcase AF-S lenses they won't work on cameras that require Regular Nikon AF lens because of the motor position. I actually found out this bit of information from talking with a worker at B&H photo. Had I known this I possibly would have looked into a different camera.

Another issue is the Flash If you are looking to use an automatic flash your only option is to purchase the "official" flash for this camera from nikon which costs upwards of $250. However If you are manually programing your flash (which I often do) you can look into using other more budget friendly flashes, just make sure you do your research well on what is compatible.

However aside from this flaw, the camera does work very well and has some great basic features. Currently right now this is my everyday camera and I haven't really had any mechanical issues or anything else. I would say it's a great starter camera especially if you're on a budget but if you're looking for something a little more sophisticated (which i currently am, because I have outgrown this camera, though it will make a great back-up) maybe look for something else.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. I'm finally getting all my studio equipment together so I can do indoor portraits and stuff like that and boudoir photography is something that always interested me.

I've had a surprising amount of people ask me if I do it, and found that there actually isn't a photographer in my immediate area that does this photography.

I've been doing some research the past few days on it so If I find anything interest/valuable i'll be sure to post and share.

As a younger voter, and along with many of voters out there like to think that we are looking for the truth when it comes to elections. However it's almost stereotypical and common knowledge that candidates make promises they don't keep, speak claimed "truths" that aren't true, just to promote their political agenda and to sway, you the voter to send the votes their way; this known as propaganda. It is our job as a voter to find the truth in this and do our own research before deciding on who is going to get our vote, not rely on everything the media tells us (which once again, is tweaked whether it's liberal or conservative to promote the company's overall political agenda too).

The irony I find especially now with this election is that we are always demanding the truth from these people but yet when one get's caught telling the truth he get's fired at and spit on because it is offensive, racist, ect...
