I would send the body in to have the mirror/focusing mechanism recalibrated by Nikon. The 35mm prime should be very sharp. I did the realignment on my D7000 and it made a world of difference. All the technique suggestions listed here are equally important

I own a X-T1 and use a 23mm f1.4 and the IQ results are fantastic. You Fuji pic looks like it was either not in complete focus or you moved during the shot (but it looks like a sunny day so you should have been in the 1/250 to 1/500 shutter range so maybe not relevant). On my camera the fucusing square turns green when you're in correct focusing range.

Yes, it seems the concept of mutual obligations has become terribly confused with the ignorant battle cry of "why should we just hand things to people who won't get off their butts and find a job." Why can Europeans grasp the concept of social support and we can't. Thank you for the post.

Great composition & workup Gravedigger! Beautiful. Yes, I'm always surprised at how well my 18-55 performs as well. For a "cheap" lens it performs admirably in well lit situations.

I bought the Nikon grips used on eBay for a lot less than the price when new. Have them on both my d7000 and d7100. Fit and functionality are superb. I read too many negative things about non-oem grips

I kind of thought the same. It's a refurbished d7200 so I want to make sure it works properly or perhaps maybe my actual settings are off. But then again I am not a professional

Your unit has fine focus adjustment settings to correct for front/back focusing issues. Check the topic out online. A few lenses had to be set to -3 to -5 in my D7000 to correct for back focusing. My D7100 never needed adjustment.

I know this is not what you want to exactly hear, but you really should store redundant copies either across computer/laptop and then also external backup unit or run a RAID system for backup. Iffy HD with a spinning disk has a failure of the read arm there ain't no software gonna fix that unit...you'd need the expensive recovery option. A 1TB external backup can be had for <$100 on sale. I dunno folks, these photos don't look as sharp as they should be for the D7200. Hoping he doesn't have one of the rare units that has front focuse/back focuses and needs readjustment by Nikon. I agree with other posters to use "Auto" for shots involving kids even though ISO might get pushed beyond where most of us would like to go. Also agree with AF-S setting with focal point dead smack in the middle. I leave my setting to take the shot whether in focus or not and then just use manual over ride when lens can't handle the ambient light and keeps searching for focus. I use an iPad Pro to adjust the light and other settings of my jpegs so the ones that come out slightly over/under exposed are fixed (I don't shoot RAW) like some of you advanced folk.

Yeah, I agree, look for a used 18-300 VR as a combo for your original two choices. To really shoot wildlife well, however, you're gonna need a bigger lens.

usnpilot... Apple makes an adapter that allows you to read the pictures directly from the SDcard used in your camera.

The files are directly imported into your main folder after you select which ones to import.
