I personally do not give a fig what you call these devices. I call it my cell phone that does the computing a lot better than those early computers that took up the whole room and a large one at that. It takes great photos, I can hear whom I am talking to, I get to set it to be my direction finder etc. I take the photos I want, call it art, call it a photo but it does what I want it to do. the merits or cons, I will deal with it and I am not going to get into a discussion with anybody else as I like what I do. People like to have the last word and I will have to admit it makes for very interesting reading.

This photo was taken with my GalaxyS9 cell phone at Lake Cushman, in Mason county, WA. It is a man made lake and is fed by melting snow from the mountains. It was damed and now it is a recreational area. Because it comes form snow melt, it takes a hot summer to be able to swim in the water.

Do they require a Kodak .PCD viewer? Did you used to have a .PCD viewer?
Can they be imported into an editor and saved as JPEG?
(I never saw/used .PCD files.)

In the past I used to get the kodak discs and transfer the files to the computer and use Photoshop Elements to process the photos and save them as JPGS. I still can use my old Kodak disks and I have Windows 10. I still use Photoshop Elements 15 to process the files on the discs. I then now save them as BMP.

I started to collect Barbie dolls that have positional joints to be able to tell a story. I bought the female posable mannequin and started playing with poses with different backgrounds that I found in my garden and I made myself. I saw the posable jointed Barbie dolls and I bought a few. The first set of photos were so out there but it was the experience of seeing what worked and what did not was a fun way to learn. People like to see the best after experimentation, I am showing some of my better ones, but if there is any interest, the first experiments are the best as you the viewer can see how the process of experimentation resulted in what you see today.

I named her Emmylyn Woody. She is the reason I went to Barbie dolls.

This was my experiment in putting together two elements. I photographed the sky seperately and integrated the two to get this photo.

And here is just a plain black background.

I used my abstract painting as a background for these guys.

I made these paper mache chairs for the Barbie dolls, but I made them too small, so I made a light hearted comment to address I made a boo boo.

This is a portrait to show the abstract background I painted.

Full figure shot to showcase my painted background.

This my cat Casey and she is my grand dame. She is now 15 years old and was born a feral cat but adopted me and has been with me ever since.

Damn. First they said they got bought by a UK group, now I just got word that my subscription is being moved to "Outdoor Photographer." June was the last issue.

I had the happy honor to write for them during the early days of digital photography and one of my "how-to" guides was a cover story that ended up very nicely for me.

What a loss. Where are new photographers going to go to learn things? Youtube?

Actually, you tube has a lot of really great photo advice for all levels of photography. And one of the responders to your question was right on, readers today are not interested on reading any long piece. Either a tweet or a visual piece to show how photography works is how the young generation of today works. I am of the generation that a book was worth its weight in gold, now it is a paper weight. Go figure, times are changing.

I don't mean to be snarky, but wouldn't someone have to be very gullible to refund money that wasn't received? On top of that, if you're not set up for it, wiring money is cumbersome and time consuming. I guess there probably are folks who don't know that the money's not instantly in your account when they deposit a check.

I have been around the block a few times and one of the things I found out that there are some gullible people out there who will bite. I was 19 when I came back from the Philippines and did not know about scams. So, I got into the Canadian lottery scam for about 6 months until I found out that it was illegal that was in 1971-72. Since then, I made the sucker list. I then decided to become the scam finder and could not believe how many people do get caught up in the scams. Elder people sadly were the most victimized by lottery scams and other scams to many to mention. Now adays, the scams are getting more sophisticated it is getting hard to know which ones are on the up and up and when a fool and his money are soon parted. The buzz word I guess is diligence.

Nice job catching this building, James! It does make one wonder, however, what they eat in China? Is it all Chinese food?

I was born here in the USA but grew up in the Philippines. The Philippines have a large Chinese community and chinese food in the Philippines is not that different than that forom China. So, I grew up on Chinese, Filipino food. I came back to the USA in 1971 when I was 19. I went to a Chinese restaurant and all I could think of, what part of China did they come from? It it did not taste like Chinese food to me. Well after 40 years, I have come to accept American Chinese food as chinese food, but not what I use to remember as a child. I guess as people move around the world, foreign foods become aclimatized to the local region.
