I was recently looking for a filter and EventCameras.com had an ND Hoya filter. They were also listed it as available thru Amazon. This is out of stock at many other places, and I have never heard of them, but since I can get it thru Amazon, I am probably not risking too much.
They say on their site "your home for camera accessories since 2005", but there are no reviews, and the website has very low traffic.
Has anyone done any business with them? I appreciate any feedback.
thanks

I use the C drive for the OS and programs. The D drive has "My Pictures," with "Lightroom" inside that. That's where the backups go.

A suggestion for you. If I understand your description correctly, you really do not have any "backup". Even if your C & D drives are separate physical drives, you are leaving your self exposed to a pretty big risk. Yes, if the C drive fails, you will still have your photos & catalog from the D drive & will be able to restore it. But, if the D drive fails you will be SOL.
I can predict one thing for sure. At some point in the future, the D drive will fail. (might be in 1 year or 10 years, but it will fail).

I was questioning if the software worked or not, as I thought you were choosing to use VueScan. Thanks! I'll try that.

I like Vuescan, but I would rather not pay $100 for it. That is why I was looking to see if any discounts are available.

The Nikon software has the potential to do just as well as the Vuescan, but after playing around with it for several hours I have come to the conclusion that it is just not worth the effort to try and guess what it is is doing. Sometimes I was able to get scans just as good as Vuescan and sometimes not so good. Horrible to try and figure in realtime what the exposure would be. The interface explanation is also poor. It just will take too much time to deal with each scan if I used the Nikon software. Color correction with Vuescan is often better. I tried Silverfast, but could only get it to work with the single slide attachment. Hope this is helpful.

Woohoo! You mean I might be able to use my Nikon scanner again? But the software doesn't work? It was the software's ICE that I would like to be able to use.

I am confused why you think "the software doesn't work". I did not say that. I told you how to use the Vuescan trial download to install drivers so the Nikon software will work. You can then decide to use the Vuescan and/or the Nikon software, or uninstall the Vuescan and still use the Nikon software. The Nikon software has very good scratch correction abilities, but the GUI is a horrible design.

Architect, actually most of my photos are sharp as i use the proper photo taking techniques(proper camera handholding,tripod use,focus pt techniques etc.) to prevent blurry images or out of focus ones. I was just making this inquiry as topaz had offered me a deal as a bundle sharpening AI,Gigapixel AI,and Photo AI for 139$,but from Paul"s info on sharpening and denoising i can get along with just using lightroom for denoise,and sharpening images..used properly.

I have used LR, PS and the Topaz products quite a bit. I feel that LR does an excellent job of removing the Chroma noise and often a good job of removing the luminance noise, if you do not need to be too selective where you want it removed.
I find the sharpening abilities in LR to be very poor when compared to what you can do in Topaz or PS. Lately the Topaz products have improved and become quite good. Lately I find myself almost never using PS to sharpening, because I can do the same or better in Topaz and it is usually much faster. I suggest you download and test them.

A couple of comments that may minimize the confusion on what to backup.
There are 2 important parts. 1-Lightroom Catalog. 2. Actual pictures (ie. JPG, NEF, Tiff etc).
If you want to have a backup, you need to copy both. The LR backup when you exit LR, just backs up the Catalog, NOT your actual pictures. The Catalog does lots of stuff such as photo organization & edits, but it is NOT your original pictures.
This means that you need to make sure you do two backups. 1 LR Catalog 2- actual pictures. Make sure you back them up to a DIFFERENT physical drive (not a logical drive). This drive can be in your computer, or an external drive. An external backup usually will offer more protection in case your computer has major issues.

I seem to think VueScan did utilize the ICE on my coolscan. Alas, MyCoolscan is at my daughters, 2,756 miles west, probably with my 30 year old 80-200 f/2.8. So I cannot confirm nor deny. My daughter does have a new MacBook but has a small collection of adapters to USB C. I think she has a VueScan license.

This is from the Vuescan site.

"VueScan has a feature called Infrared Clean that solves the same problem as Digital ICE. But it does not use the same patent/trademark encumbered issues that Digital ICE has that requires licensing the technology. We think our implementation is faster and performs better than Digital ICE. We use the same infrared scanning as the other scanner vendor’s software does, but process it in a different way to get great results."

I'm mostly interested in the fact that you mentioned the Nikon Coolscan. What OP do you have it on?

If by "OP", you mean OS, then I have Windows 10. I could not get the Nikon Scan software to work until I downloaded and installed the Vuescan software. Installing the Vuescan software also installs Drivers that work on Windows 10. This is a way to get the drivers installed, even if you just use the Vuescan software for a trial period. The drivers are not removed if the Vuescan software is uninstalled.

I am thinking of getting a copy of VueScan for use with my Epson flatbed scanner & also a Nikon Coolscan IV. Does anyone have any thoughts on the product? I have been testing it, and it seems to be much easier to use than the Nikon software. It also has the added advantage that it will also work with the flatbed scanner.
Does anyone know of any discounts available? Thanks

You can create a column in Explorer called Dimensions ? Thank you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thaz *truly* the first USEFUL thing Ive EVER learned on UHH. Acoarst there are plenty things I dont know but this is the very first time UHH has hit one. AND its useful, not just a "fun fact". This most definitely calls for Chocolate !
you are welcome. I did not give you the specific details on how you can add a column. Not obvious, if you have never done it. (but easy), so this may help.
Select "View" tab.
Select "Details" view. This will give you a details view with probably only 5 or 6 default columns
Right click on one of the columns (at top, where the field is named).
This gives you a "drop down" with about 8 columns you can select. The last one is "More . . "
left click on "More . . ."
this gives you the list of all of the columns you can select. It is not all of the EXIF data, but a pretty large selection.
An added note: if you have another folder that you wish to have the same columns ( it is a PIA to add lots of columns to several other folders), you can go to "File", "Change Folder and search options"... View tab, select "Apply to Folders".
Your new view (with additional columns) should now be there whenever you open up another folder that are the same type.
