Ken Miles, who drove one of the Fords, was my favorite race driver. I watched him several times at the Laguna Seca raceway near Monterrey, California in the 60's. His driving was perfectly consistent, kicking up just a small amount of dust every time at my favorite corner, six.

Having a level horizon is essential for most professional level photography. It does take discipline. If unwilling to try to shoot level, include extra surroundings so that leveling in post retains your desired composition.

I'm not a monk, but I think the sound was the whining of a shaggy dog.

I am 75, and remember most of those things fondly. I also remember:
Cars that would stall for no apparent reason.
Fixing several flat tires a year.
Banks being open only during "banking hours", and you needed to use the banks.
No air conditioning in cars, and swamp coolers in the house.
No stores open on Sunday.

I have been a AAA member for over 50 years, and have gotten my money's worth in roadside service and towing. And especially during the period when I would buy used high mileage BMW's. One advantage of being a AAA member is you can use the card even if you are with someone else in their car.

I had a '65 English Ford Cortina. I think that image was posed, as I have strong doubts the 1500 cc 60 hp Cortina could move such a large trailer, much less haul it anywhere. I can almost smell the clutch burning.

I use my neutral density filters to get the smoothed out water effect but to a mild degree. I like the water to retain its character so I use shutters speeds around 1/8 or 1/15 second. This is how I like to photograph flowing water. The exposure time was 1/10 second.

I also prefer to see the form of the water with just enough blur to show motion. Once the exposure is so long that the water resembles fog, the form of the waterway is lost. As far as "realism" is concerned, both frozen water (high shutter speed) and milky water do not represent, in my opinion, reality. This shot of Soco Falls in North Carolina was taken at 1/2 second.

The excellent Nikon PC lenses work on a full size camera, but may not be wide enough for a cropped sensor camera for interior work.

I do the official photos for Airbnb in our area. I have used the Tokina 11-16 mm lens on my Nikon D90. I do not keep any filter on the lens as I have found that increases possibility of flare from light sources, and I use a level to minimize corrections to perspective. I correct the minimal lens distortion in Adobe Camera RAW. And use Photoshop to correct the architectural distortions.

If there is lots of glass be aware that reflections of your camera/tripod and you may be unavoidable. I clone them out.

Kurt Vonnegut got it right. In "The Sirens of Titan" . The concept in the book that caused an epiphany for me was a new religion called “The Church of God the Utterly Indifferent”. Their motto was “Take Care of his People, and God Almighty Will Take Care of Himself”.

I used a Nikon 35mm PC lens years ago. It is great for three shot panos, as well as architectural work, although the lenses available are not wide enough for interior shots, and especially if using a cropped sensor. I do all my perspective correction in Photoshop now.

Thanks for that, Airbnb is great. We have booked one in Fort Worth for 2 days, and New Orleans for 3 days. When I know for sure where we'll be, I'll have a look. So much nicer than hotels in a lot of cases, and we get to meet people and get a feel of living in the burbs. Jude.

I do all of the official Airbnb photography in the Chattanooga area. There are 17+ pages of listings in the Gatlinburg, Tennessee side, and a similar amount on the Cherokee, North Carolina side. You should be able to find an interesting location anywhere in the area.

Check out Airbnb.com for the location(s) you are visiting. Much more interesting than hotels.
