You need to play with them. Great therapy! Lol.

My New Year project is to clear a 6’ x 18’ foot space in the basement to start constructing bench work for a new layout. While continuing to clear out stuff so it can grow. There’s going to be numerous stealthy trips to the dumb .

You poor thing. We have 4 children. We made them grow up, Kicked them out of the house and get married. Oh, and made them get their own homes.

This is the second time around for both of us, so all the the kids are long grown and gone. At least we decided on combining our worldly possessions into my home and selling hers. Otherwise I have no idea what would have happened to my collection, now safely boxed and stored in my/our basement.

I so remember when I could do that. Then I met and married the lovely and caring woman who is my wife. Slowly the the trains and the 7&1/2 ft Christmas tree and the old sofa I could run my trains behind and around got crowded out by more and new furniture. My Christmas villages were displaced by the need for permanent homes for my wife’s many plants. The basement running layout needed to be disassembled as we combined our two house holds so as to store the overflow. I envy you greatly for what you have. Merry Christmas my fellow HOG and Lionel enthusiast.

Having a similar experience, only they are coming in unsolicited texts. This is after recently placing a legitimate order for touch up paint for my Ford. Seems that many companies or whichever software provider they use for online ordering have no problem sharing your contact info.

A little history first. I worked near 30 years for a New York retailer that was known for it’s quality home goods and very fine jewelry and watches. Unfortunately the retailer closed about 13 years ago, however the watchmaker they sent out all their expensive and prestigious watches for repair to, still continues to do repairs and and restorations.
A few years ago he restored a watch my parents had gotten for me on my 16th birthday, a Solvil Titus, FYI I turn 64 this November, to working condition for a few hundred bucks. The watch when I looked on e-bay listed for a few thousand dollars! So I consider it a decent deal. You can call or e-mail them to inquire on your watch.

Guess I’ll be waiting and hoping the camera and lens kit eventually becomes available from Nikon U.S.A.

I have no problem buying Gray market camera gear from a reputable dealer if their is an advantage to doing so. A OEM warranty is worth something so their should be a cost benefit or other advantage.

In over fifty years of camera purchases and use only one camera failed and that was a USA Nikon D70. It failed long after the warranty expired and Nikon fixed it at no charge. It was a common failure for that camera.

No real advantage, other than the camera and lens kit is available as gray market and still out of stock as the U.S.A. version. I suppose that they consider offering their own warranty that they consider equivalent to Nikon's is sufficient reason to charge the same amount for both.

If its not Nikon stuff, no hey problemo !

If it breaks, use your discount $$ toward paying to fix it. Theres no expiration day for those dollars. Acoarst, stuff generally doesnt break.

It is Nikon, B & H says they will warranty it the same as if it was Nikon U.S.A., there is however no discount, you pay the same as if it was U.S.A. goods. Don't know how they would repair any such item if it was needed, whether they do it in house of have an outside entity for it.

Wondering if anybody out there has gone this route when looking for new equipment. Were there any concerns or inconveniences with the items you received. If you had a problem within the B & H warranty period, was it rectified to your satisfaction. Considering going this route with a couple of U.S.A. items that have been out of stock for a while, but B & H has their import versions available. A camera and lens kit, FYI.

Hello Hoggers,

I'm wondering how many change the camera time setting to Daylight Savings vs just leaving it in standard time?

I usually check and reset the date and time as necessary when I pull out one of my cameras to do some shooting. Also since it can be a while between uses for any particular camera, I also pull the battery which tends to necessitate running through the setup menu.

For a small task of keeping the sanding belt tensioned on my Home built belt sander/ grinder.
Reading the instructions I came upon this.

Basically it’s turn it on and take cover, that thing is going blow something before it cuts out!

I was raking leaves from our European Weeping Beech this morning. Leaves fall a round Christmas time.
I was working my way along outside the fence at the top of the stone wall to the left of the angel when I raked a clump of dead grass and uncovered these baby rabbits.
Took a couple of shots and fully covered them again. I had dirt covered work gloves on so I hope no damage was done.

Nice photos! Hope we have the opportunity to see more photos as Mom comes to check on them and when they eventually leave the nest. A few years ago I had a similar opportunity when I discovered the same in one of my wife’s flower pots and chronicled the event with several posts here on the hog.

Got a heads-up from a neighbor about this guy just hanging out, while these guys are known to our area, spotting one is a treat. Only had my Nikon CoolPix P510 ready to go, plus I was shooting through a mix of rain, snow and sleet. No additional editing done to the photos; out of those I took these are the better ones.
