I had the same issue...living in Dallas. I did some research on light pollution in our area and found some areas west of Fort Worth. I did a night shoot at the State Historic site of Fort Griffen. I was able to get some really nice shots. Milky way was faint but did show in the photo. A little light painting yielded some keepers.

With my D810 I shoot with the 14-24 usually at 14. No longer than 25 seconds wide open at 2.8. ISO 4000-4500, white balance usually between 4000-4500K. Best shots need interesting foreground. Those will need to be long exposure depending on the moonlight. For these shots you need 2 to 2.5 minutes with ISO 2000 to 2500. Again this will change a lot with moonlight. Best shots need to be far away from the city....good luck and be safe!

I found a great deal on a C33 with an in the mid 70's. I had just graduated from college and had no money. When I got married I was the wedding photographer with the C33 and a mechanical timer. My wife was and still is a real trooper. Still get the camera out once in a while and shoot a roll of Film.

In in 2014 I did a similar trip in my old Austin Healey. On this trip I did several High Mountain Passes in the Alps. Would highly recommend you look a hitting a few of these. My two favorites were San Bernadino and Stilferjoch Stelvio. Stelvio is very popular for bikers...enjoy the trip and take lots of Pics.

I have done several international photo trips. I take my camera and lenses in a backpack that I know will fit in the overhead or under the seat. Check with the Airline to make sure you know the overhead dimensions. I check a bag with my clothes and put the tripod in the checked bag. To avoid the potential you may have a problem with the back pack fitting in all the overheads on your trip, put some of the lenses in a shoulder bag and put that bag inside the backpack. If you run into a problem at the airport then you can just pull out the shoulder bag with the lenses and reload the backpack so it will fit. This last bit may seem overkill, but it saved me having to check camera equipment in a small South American airport.

I visited many times. Street photography in Seoul is great....Look in the back alleys of Itaewon. You can see how the inexpensive clothes are really made.

I shoot with the D810 and the Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 and the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 both with Nikon chip. I use live view to get sharp focus and mirror up to get shot.

I still have mine from the 80's. Recently I pulled it out and stuck in a roll of Kodak T-Max 100 B&W film and started shooting. While the images don't compare with my D810 and modern lenses, it did made me slow down and think more about composition and exposure instead of just shooting lots of bracketed images and then sorting through the files on the computer.

I shoot with a D810 and do a lot of low light and night photography. I watched a good friend damage the receptacle his 810 trying to push the connector into the camera body. Since then I just use the shutter delay mode and a really stout tripod and head to shoot in these conditions.
