I'm assuming that the lens is an "L"L. If so, what do you want for it without the camera?

My wife and I, and our friends (those still around) are from these times. We have discussed many of the things you wrote, and consider ourselves the luckiest generation, having seen both the horrible (WW II) and the best (the end of the war and what happened to make us the nation we used to be until the changes of the past number of years). Yes, there are a very few of us left, like the service people who served in WWII we become fewer and fewer each year. We accept this reality without regrets of any kind.

I found that at kids sporting events, the kids were great, the coaches pretty good, it were the parents that were a PITA. If the parents just dropped off the kids and then either left or shut up, a better time would be had by all and the kids would learn what teamwork and cooperation were.

Having shot from moving cars, airplanes, trains and boats, I suggest that you always shoot at an angle to 90 degrees, which will give you better focus. Ninety degrees tends to give out-of-focus results. You can also use slower shutter speeds if you shoot at an angle. Move the camera with the subject; I always started shooting as the subject approached. Closer subjects are harder to focus on for good results. I shot like it was a sporting event (multiple fast exposures, not single shots).

Wonderful, nice video that brings back fond memories. My wife and I flew by it 10/25/77 on Royal Nepal Airlines. They gave you a very nice color certificate of Everest ("Sagarmatha" locally). The most interesting about that trip was that Tenzing Norgay, a lovely, sweet man, (the Sherpa with Sir Edmund Hillary) was in town, and he signed the peak of the certificate and let us take a picture of him with my wife. I keep that framed in my home office to remind me of simpler, nicer times.
