I too am also a pro photographer.
I used a 3tb mirrored external harddrive that is 3 tb plus a mirror image . so, a back up to the back up.
it recently crashed and i was told there are three levels of recovery $100////500.00 ///or clean room recovery 1500.00
I have since purchased 2 8tb external harddrives it's a little more work; but I do not leave these either powered up or connected to the computer.
So they only run when I want them to, or download what I want them to...
seems to be working

vey often when just going out to shoot, I'll take two cameras.
when traveling, second camera stays in the hotel, and I'll just take a handfull of lenses with me in a pack.
I have 3 7d cameras
after looking at all of the canon line what each gives and what some take away (on camera flash) I think the 7d is a fab choice.
I take all three with me on all shoots..
a) so I'm not forced to change lenses outside
b) back up in case of a malfunction
really good camera
ken
of the choice between tree photos, i like 1
on the choice out of all three; the dog shot has the most interest for me...
i have tried to brighten it up a bit for you
hard cold fact...nno matter that once in a while you can get a really great shot.
don't do it...the chance for missing good shots that come out soft on your computer is to great

I have been to both places several times, and while both are very beautiful... I would not under any circumstances drive in Mexico; especially not near the Mayan ruins (as they are not near anything, not even help if you should need it) take the bus
watch the tipping policy (they often want a % of the cost of the ticket....yikes !!!

i have 2 canon 7 d's

THANX, BUT, i'VE JUST STARTED WITH JIMMYDRIVE.COM
DID THE HARD DRIVE THING...HAVE (2) TERABYTES OF PHOTOS STORED ....JUST AFFRAID OF ANYTHING HAPPENING @ MY OFFICE.. NOT, JUST THE COMPUTER
BUT I WANTED TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUGGESTION
KEN

Ken
what are you folks doing for offsite data storage ?
what file formats do they accept ?
is the backup continuous?
how many Gg of space do they sell?
If any of you have suggestions I'd be happy to hear them;
I've been using Carbonite, but, they are so slow I can't stand it
anybody heard of Mosiac ?

AS LONG AS WE ARE JUST SUGGESTING THINGS, I LIKE THE FLEXABILITY THAT MY CANON 24-105 IS L GIVES ME.
GREAT FOR PORTRAITS, BUT, CLEARLY HAS MANY MORE USES
KEN
i also have concerns about the battery grip on a tripod//my solution to this is use the lens mounting ring// or if the lens does not have one///realizing that it is a pain in the but//i do remove the battery grip if the camera is to be on the tripod for more than just a few shots
