If the sky is clear consider a one hour drive at night to Cherry Spring SP, then plan for a light show in the sky. Fast lens and tripod help a lot.
A bit off the coast but Lassen Volcanic NP outside of Redding is also way cool. We were heading south from Portland to SF, almost all on the coast and added the 3-4 hour detour east with an overnight in Redding.
I use this too, set to Mirror the source - it does all the work.
I use a small "solar generator", mine is from Bluetti but so many different manufactures to choose from. You can plug many devices into it so it will serve multiple purposes. Look up HOBOTECH on YouTube, a great source of information on all off-grid devices. Best luck
Live in Philly and everyone brings cameras as this is a historic site. It's got difficult lighting so be prepared for that and not much room to zoom by foot.
I took my external drive apart and plugged the harddrive into a Ubuntu pc, read everything off the hd, showed it was ok (problem with the WD controller) and now have a spare hd around.
