Most of the health claims for cannabis have to be anecdotal because our federal government has made it extremely difficult to do scientific studies. Hopefully that will change soon and we can find out which claims can be backed up. I think it would just be better to have full adult usage legalized. Then if people felt it gave them some relief from medical conditions, they would be free to use it. As far as dependance, our legal drugs of alcohol and tobacco are physically addictive, as well as prescription opioids, causing withdrawal symptoms. Cannabis can have psychological dependance, but then so can video games, social media, junk food, etc. I was a frequent user of cannabis back in the '70s and 80's, but when it became unavailable for a time, sometimes weeks at a time, I didn't experience any negative effects.

Important to emphasize...."so we can find out which claims are backed up". EXACTLY. That is where I have a problem with. These places who are currently selling it are doing so unethically and without any scruples. They exaggerate and hide the negative sides of the substance to sell more. The dependence aspect is a plus for them! If in my practice in order to recommend a substance Im completely RESPONSIBLE to provide the patient with the pros and cons, there is a dosage to each drug and a frequency to use it correctly. Why not applying the same to these places? Is there a warning given to avoid driving while on the influence of marijuana given to these patients? Nope. Do they warn about the dependence? Nope. Now having to read one of these lairs here propagating false info prompt me to answer back. Have you read all the improper info that for example dirtpusher have written here? You seem like a well informed person and would surely agree with me. The poor guy perhaps is just ignorant but such ignorance is perpetuated when liars like the fly boy here show themselves. Why not base actions on true knowledge and not hear say and fairy tales? They are doing a disservice to a potentially good alternative just to make a quick buck riding the wave.
