NIK is still free. I just got a new computer and I found two sites that are offering the free NIK.

If they are legitimate sites, why not post them so other UHH members can use them?

I am looking to buy a camera and I wanted to know three things first of all. What brand would you buy?
Second, what type would you buy i.e. mirror less or DSLR
And finally, would you ever buy a camera that has been refurbished?

I own Nikon for 20+ years, for me it was a good choice.

If starting out today I would buy mirrorless. I own both DSLR and Mirrorless. The market place deems that mirrorless is the future.

I own only one refurb, a Nikon Df. Everything else I purchased new. Either way you only get a relatively short warranty.

I hope this helps answers you actually asked.

Adorable little balls of fluff, so who cares about the bad light? Thanks for putting a sile on my face over AM coffee.

Thanks very much. If the birds are OK with the light, so am I

... Pond across from my house.

I walked to the nest which was littered with broken shells. I looked around and spotted them on shore across the pond. Lighting was bad but you take what you can get. To my surprise, and others watching, they all came back and got back in the nest. No shots through the tall grass.

I have 2024, but I've tended to use the same tools as 2020 and the one I had before that. Partly, this is because I use Nik Collection extensively, and when I really want to play, I go into Topaz Studio 2.

What price are they offering? It's only $69.99 on their website right now; no extra-special deal for current users:

Here are some of the features:

If you won't miss $70 terribly much, I'd say do it
I have 2024, but I've tended to use the same tools... (show quote)

I haven't used Nik in a long time. I used to play with it on my desktop when it was free. I looked today and couldn't find it. Then I remembered it was free from Google. The free "Google NIK" is still on my computer, and still works.

There is only one sharp super zoom. Sigma 300-800mm f5.6 constant aperture. I have one and use it with my d500. Amazing lens.

Which ones have you tried it against?

If you’re gonna use them, practice and learn to use them better.

Over the years I have used 1.4x, 1.7x, and 2.0x Nikon converters with varying success. Typically these were used with 400 and 500mm Nikkor lenses. Tripods are always a big help.

The biggest thrill, and biggest drain on my wallet, was and is the Nikkor 800mm F/5.6 with the included 1.25x convertor. The convertors are built with the lens and carry the same serial number as the lens. If you lose it, Nikon will not replace. I once tried to use this lens hand held. Those days are gone, but with a good tripod

The Nikkor lenses with convertors that can flip in and out must be a big plus. Unfortunately for me my piggy bank is empty.
