I was a young Marine and was temporarily in Japan far, far, far away from home. Our only contact with anyone back home was via mail, the kind you write on paper, put in an envelope with a physical address and stamp. The letter would then arrive one or two or three weeks later.

Here is a 60 year old pic of one of my comrades writing home.

In the USN, at sea somewhere off the Vietnam coast in about 1965. We had just taken on supplies from another ship & I got a letter from home. It was dated only 7 days earlier which was a BIG surprise. I was puzzled about the contents as there was no new news! Read the date on the letter again. The right date, but one year earlier!

train will pop up, or they call you to Deadhead to your away from home terminal where you can get out on your legal rest or spend days waiting to be called. And it is your job to be rested whenever they call you to work. And for that they will give you 2 days off a month or fire you. How many of you would work under those conditions!

And WHY would you work under those conditions. Start your own business and be your own boss. Can't make that work? Maybe that is why management gets paid for what they do.

The problem is that the world is experiencing a 2+ degree C increase in temperature. That is 35.6+ degrees F. It's why the polar ice caps are calving huge chunks of ice and climate change is so extreme. Air conditioning exacerbates the problem by forcing hot indoor air back outside to cool the interior...(yes it works that way). In effect, mankind is baking itself and this planet to death. To fix the problem for our children and grandchildren will take world-wide political will. I'm afraid there is little out there to do it.
The problem is that the world is experiencing a 2+... (show quote)

A 2 degree C increase would be a 3.6 F degree increase. We have a little math problem here! Another 2 degree C from 2 degrees would equal 4 degrees C or 4 + 3.6, i.e. 7.6F degrees.

I cleaned Windows completely 15 years ago. The registry was their (MS) biggest boondoggle ever. I switched to Linux and never looked back. No need to purchase all the programs required to use Windose. No need to buy new versions of anything. Utilities to accomplish anything including formatting, partitioning, much more. A wide choice of programs available for any activity.

I have a Prius Prime (a plug in hybrid). It is my third Prius since 2008 (the 1st plug-in). I get 24 to 30 miles from a full charge (max about 4 hours charge time at home). Then average 60 mpg on gas. Many of our trips are 15 to 40 miles. Our mileage for the last 27,000 miles is 104 mpg. On long trips we just stop for gas. When we brake in a Prius it charges the battery, it doesn't heat the wheels.

I use Linux mint and have two ssd's on my main computer. One (I just installed) is a 1 TB NVMe. The other is a 224 GB sata drive. I have had much success with the sata drives on multiple computers. The NVMe is much faster (about twice). I treat them like a normal sata drive. Also I format them in GPT not MBR. Google "Rodrick Smith Hard Drive Formatting" if not sure about this. GPT is much better. Also I suggest you install the "Home" folder in its own partition. It will simplify upgrading in the future.

I use rechargeable AAA, AA, C, 18650 batteries. Store AA & AAA in pvc pipes with removable end caps. Haven't bought a disposable battery in years.

Why would anyone buy it? You can do all that with Linux and it is free.
