Nice pics, all! Ideas for pics; reflection in a shiney ornament. Reading a favorite Christmas book together, maybe in Pajamas?

I had Nikon film cameras for years. Then I sold everything and bought a Canon XS20i and never liked it, just sold it after I recently purchased a Nikon D3100, which I love! I find it very light weight compared to my old N90s and compact too, yet still an SLR. Everything on it is very straightforward and much easier to understand compared to the Canon, or so it seemed to me.

Talent is natural skill, not luck, don't let anyone say you haven't got it! Love the pics, nice job!

I loved viewing your pics! I was out there the first time in the 70's and saw these falls, I was only 14 and my pics weren't nearly as great as yours. Spearfish Canyon is a great drive in the back of a 70's Ford pickup with an open topper, seeing where you've already been...
Thanks for stirring good old memories!

I love zooms for portraits, especially if you are working with kids in candid or large settings. My favorite used to be a 24-120mm Nikkor but that was with a film camera. I'm new to digital and have been out of the business for quite a few years now. You may want to do some lens tests playing around with depth of field to see what your lens will do. From what I'm reading the lens you have is what I'm going to buy next.

My name is Kathy. I have owned 3 photography businesses and have been out of it completely for about 6 years now. I sold the last of my gear and bought a custom saddle for my Walking horse. I'm looking at getting back into it on some scale, but not as large. After having known film cameras inside and out, digital is a bit of a learning curve, but I'm catching on. I'm so glad to have found a group to chat with and learn from.
Photo is of a few of the grandkids, they are so fun and provide me with much inspiration! Sorry for the low res.

I've read the book, thanks for the photo. The whole experience is so difficult to grasp. Manifest Destiny; how arrogant people can be.
