Interesting information...
Thanks everyone for the informative feed back. My son-in-law is the one being protective and who questioned the legality of his children s photos being out on the intranet for anyone to see. There seems to be a lot of differing opinions on the subject.
As a photographer I get a release from anyone's whose photo that I intend to put on my web site. I have a photo shoot this afternoon at a dance school and I require a copy of the blanket release from the school allowing me to photograph the children in their costumes for the school.
My interest in the topic is not to sue them or get something for nothing, I am only seeking knowledge on the subject.
No ticket was issued, this is a privately owned you pick Organic Farm that opens to the public on weekends, for hayrides, maze and other family activities to help generate revenue for the farm. It is cash at the door admission.
My family visited Sweetfields Farm in FL several years ago. This is an admission charged visit. At that time I signed up for their news letter. Imagine my surprise today when I received the latest news letter and my family apparently, unbeknownst to us was photographed and their photo was featured in the advertisement that went out to their mailing list. The photo contained my Daughter, Son-in-law, 2 Grandaughters, & Grandson. Question, is this legal, there were minor children in the photo?
The problem was with my card reader. I dug out my camera to PC cable and they loaded just fine. That card reader is now in the trash. Can anyone recommend a card reader brand that is reliable? I have now gone through 3 of them.
Stats are accurate, I was traveling ultralight with no tripod on a mostly dreary day. Thanks for the info.
Stats for the above images: F6.3, 1/125, ISO 1250, metering mode "Pattern" No Flash, Manual control, Auto White Balance.
I have been shooting with the canon 5d Mark III since they went on sale 2 years ago and love it. I can tell you that I get great shots when others in my meetup group the Digital Divas cannot. On an outing to a local park with my group we ran across a wedding and the park asked if we could take a few photos for park advertisement. It was a cloudy rainy day and all I had with me was my 5D Mark III and the 24-105mm kit lens, my flash was at home. I was taken back with the quality of images that it produced in low light. The wedding party could not afford a photographer, so my Assistant Organizer and I did the whole wedding gratis for them. Sometimes it is not about the $$.
Here are 3 of the safely recovered photos that I took on a personal pleasure shoot to the zoo. Sometimes I like to go and just take photos to practice Photoshop on without the pressure of a client shoot.
Thanks, that is great advice and I will definitely use a new card for my next shoot. I may use that card again with some test shots just to see if the problem still exists on the card. I will also experiment with the card reader to see if that is the issue. It will also be interesting to find out if a new card will have the same issue with the card reader. This may take a little time and testing to see if the problem replicates and by process of elimination determine what the problem was. I was able to retrieve all of the raw images from the card with the cable without any corrupt files. Scary scenario, thank goodness these were just pleasure shots that I took at a zoo and not for a client.
I have recovered all of the images but still have no idea what happened. I deleted the entire file from my PC and reloaded the images via cable from my camera to PC. All of the images were fine. So I must conclude that somehow the transfer using my card reader somehow malfunctioned. I am quite relieved that it was not a camera issue as I have a wedding to shoot next week. Thanks to all for all the great advice. It really helped.

I would estimate that only about 8% of the images were corrupted. After a shoot I always reformat the card to make sure there is no data left on the card. Is it possible that I have reformatted the card to many times?
I shot a batch of raw images on a 32 g sd card and all appeared ok on my PC, however when I opened the files some of them were corrupt, does any one know if this hopefully is an SD disc going bad or is there a problem with my camera. The raw file appears ok until you open it.
The raw images appear ok until you open in PS
Beautiful phenomenon. I also noticed that when you see a double rainbow in the 2nd one the colors are in reverse order to the 1st. In this example it appears that they are the same?
Here is a second image, showing the plane and vapor trail. With this one I changed the settings to 7.1, 1/5000, ISO 200, Metering (Pattern), Manual Exposure, Auto White balance. I am not sure why this appears almost B&W. The second image I cropped down to show the airplane that caused the vapor trail across the image. I tried to pull some blue into the photo in PS6 but only managed to get a purple hue so I ditched the edits and kept the original color.
Full image, you can just barely see the plane at about 10 o'clock
Croped image to clearly show the plane.
