Could you please advise me at what age I should consider myself senior? I was born in 1963.

Anyone born after 1960 is a whippersnapper.... and requires an ID at the liquor store...

Great lighting!! Strong composition!! Wonderful colors- very cinematic look- I know that light, that air, that time of morning... excellent image. Good job.

....am a little curious 'bout the bluish "bug light" glow under the hat brim and rod; artifacts? bait station?

srg, L-Fox, UTMike - thanks! Sam the cbtsam, why oh why did you make me look? You know that now I don't feel any better about them than you do Many thanks for your detailed eye!

HA!! Blue streaks- like an earworm but for the eyes!
Very interesting image, Linda! I look at it and hear the hard tuned snare drums of a marching band...

Some years ago I posted an image of an orange- still on the tree- where the north sky reflected a surprisingly deep and saturated blue off several tree leaves. I suspect the blue streaks in your image are also a "North Sky" reflection and not simply reflections of sky; is that correct, Linda? If so, I'm very curious about the strength and quality of this "north light" business...

These are nice - the tulip shot is particularly good- don't often see such a floral composition that holds together this well. Good job!

OK, having been with this forum for a bit, I know the members have a great sense of humor. Given that, I tried to investigate with no luck. Been pretty close to a few lately, so I'll ask what does that mean?

The Keebler elves reportedly hang out in hollow trees where they bake cookies, wafers and enter by such holes... That is, that's what advertisers say... Maybe a whiff of chocolate ? Small, tiny voices within?

Tree holes have always fascinated me and stirred my imagination! Some are pretty amazing formations, and my mind frequently wonders if I am seeing a tree hole or if I am actually looking at the entrance to someone's home. If you've looked at some of my recent posts, you know the answer. However, it continues to thrill me when I walk past a particular tree hole, and see someone peeking out or, better yet, scooting into it.

So, over the year, I have captured a few tree holes in my stomping grounds and will share.

As always, I hope you enjoy!

Good eye BAchme... but if you get real close to the tree holes, do you ever smell cookies?

If you took the last image (Blue Angels) with a single (versus a burst) shot, I’d say you don’t need to practice the panning technique; you need to patent yours! C’mon… which direction were you panning, right or left🤓 Great catch!!!!

HA!! I can be quick JR, but not THAT quick! So, 20 fps is the best I can manage- and I need every one of those frames- panning left-to-right at 1/2000 and f/4- auto ISO bounces around 64 to 80. The trouble is the planes are only 150 or so yards away and roaring by at nearly 400 MPH... that's pretty zippy!! Obviously, the secret ingredient is a double shovel of luck... !!

Well done Stephen. I take it that this is the air show put on by the WWII Museum held at the Lakefront Airport. I used to go every year when I lived in N.O. It was a wonderful air show. Like your images.

Don

Thank you Don, always good to hear from you. No, this air show was sponsored by and held at Naval Air Station - Joint Reserve Base New Orleans (NAS-JRB-NO)... the base is actually on the West Bank of the Mississippi River, in Belle Chasse, just south of Gretna. It's open to the public but the target audience is military and their families. The Blue Angels are the headliners followed by a handful of "legacy" aircraft- depends on what's in fit-for-flight status. It was a good time... I'm still deaf from the F-35's though...

I constantly struggle to come up with what to shoot. Does it come randomly to you? Or do you plan and brainstorm and imagine the final picture first and then arrange to make it happen?

Do you shoot what you happened to see? Or do you create your shots?

Some photographers imagine an image then conjure up props and people and light to express that imagination. Yeah, I can’t do that… that is, I don’t do that; I have no foresight; instead I’m a sniper that stumbles upon curious circumstances or conditions then haul out a camera to make the shot; perhaps of a fortunate composition, or colors that please me; interesting light, or a flying dog. Post processing is where the image starts to make sense to me, where potential is realized… that’s where my subconscious begins to manifest and shows me what I was looking at in the first place. So, I don't struggle to shoot... I struggle to appreciate what I've seen...
